Gygax often claimed that Tolkien and his books had just a "superficial" influence on D&D. According to him, such authors as Anderson, Sprague de Camp and Pratt, Leiber, Lovecraft, Merritt, Moorcock, Vance, and Zelazny were used as inspiration more than Tolkien.

"Race to Rabaul 1943" is a forthcoming addition to the "Race to the Rhine" series by PHALANX. Volko Ruhnke made an excellent game where players have to wrestle with the push and pull of logistics in the Pacific theater. The adversarial gameplay is great. #wargaming @volko.bsky.social

I just came across this mind-blowing reconstruction of the #Pantheon … in Lego. Not only does it accurately reflect the architecture, but it reconstructs everything with suggested polychrome decoration. The statues are ‘painted’, as are parts of the architecture. Bravo! 👏 🏺

Grace project tweaks: minor text alterations for clarity (such as there can be when some of it is Tudor English) plus three revised symbols for forcing a Narrative onward, Pausing until the aftermath, and Stop for that's it in this area for now.
