Wargames. Playing, collecting, designing and discussing about them with an eye to the less trodden titles. And everything else around them. At my discretion.
Designer of Operation Bøllebank, Nothing Left to Bomb, By Stealth and Sea and a few others.
The glamorous life of the unaccomplished (war)game designer: in two weeks I run the risk of losing the third award my game was nominated for this year…
…wait!
Isn’t that an accomplishment in itself?

A nice little thread on the lineup of @snafustore.bsky.social currently available games (yes, that includes mine 😊).

My favorites so far?

More of @snafustore.bsky.social Catch-18 this WE. My son felt comfortable enough to play the Germans (more varied pieces and different things they can do), so I got to play the US and…
failed miserably!
I had some unlucky moments and the kid played well.
Still struggling with victory conditions.

While canon could suggest gatekeeping of some sort, I really enjoyed the episode and the spirit of the participants (including the banter!). The list is pretty exhaustive already, but the thing that surprised me the most was hearing that Brant likes SPI City Fight probably as much as me!
One day…
We're baaaa-aaack!

In memory of my gaming friend Giuliano that eventually sold me his unpunched copy of the game, I am about to dive into the Great Pacific War, 1941-1945!

Inspired by a recent review @armchairdragoons.bsky.social by RMN, I pulled out my copy of Smokejumpers by Kerry Anderson.
He was involved in wildfire modeling and the game reflects his long experience.
It is solitaire and the “bot” is driving the spread of the fire.

At long last, one of my remaining grail games is in the house.
A nice end to an otherwise “meh” day where I just ran around a lot for nothing.
Surprised to see a couple of important names in the credits.

In an effort to keep my kids away from video games, what better than a board(war?)game…based on a video game? Sniper Elite by my friend @djackthompson.bsky.social on the table!
First game was close, in the second the sniper pulled a big trick on us guards!
The little one (sniper) is hooked!

Latest acquisitions.

Yes, I am in the middle of an ACW bug.
And accepting suggestions!

Vae Victis remains the best value for the money you can expect from a wargame magazine. And no, I am not taking questions at this time.

So you are out of town for a few days and space is at a premium but you still want to scratch that solitaire (war)game itch? I’ve got you covered!
Today I played: Rattenkrieg (ATO), Plinius against the Vesuvius and The Measure of the Earth (both @snafustore.bsky.social by @marcfigueras.bsky.social)😊

First game of Lonely Cairn by @catastrophegames.bsky.social .
One that was highly anticipated because, let’s face it, I am a true Franklin Expedition nut.
It did not disappoint. Simple but effective mechanics linked to history and an overall enjoyable experience.
And yes, the crew vanished in 1848…

An important statement.
And it just made me pull the trigger on Mongoose products!
Well done!
We have just made a post on our forums covering a change in policy on the use of AI art in our TAS programme on Drivethru, along with our wider thoughts on AI art and its use in RPGs (and media in general).

End of the dream. 🤷‍♂️
It was a good ride!
A huge “thank you” to all the folks @snafustore.bsky.social , to meister @zweigefuhle.bsky.social and his fantastic graphic design, to the nominating committee, the @csrawards.bsky.social and to all those that reviewed the game and those that voted for it.

Hey look at the family, we keep on growing!
So honored to be in such company!
Each game is a labor of love and don’t be misled by the words “pocket” or “small”, if you pass on these games, you are missing out!
Each meticulously crafted by a team of designers, developers and tested!!
Family picture and a small presentation of Tarqui. An honorable Peace?

Today is a good day to release our 10th wargame.
Ten wargames and none about (as my daugther says) "my crush" ... but this time, we are on his timeframe: 1829, the Emperor's ashes are still at Saint Helene.
