James Garner is one of my old school actor crushes, strictly based on that turtleneck and jacket from The Great Escape. Which is one of my favorite Dad Movies.
imho James Garner really is the guy that everyone thinks Steve McQueen is. Garner's fit was so powerful that McQueen threw a tantrum about it and insisted they swap costumes.
Rewatched Great Escape on my last flight and I think we don’t talk enough about James Garner’s unreal drip

People who have cordial relationships with their moms are genuinely like aliens to me. Like, if you can even make a slightly off color joke with your mom and she LAUGHS with you, what the fuck is THAT about? What's it like to be able to be free?

The first official US coin was the Fugio cent, rumored to have been designed by Ben Franklin.

Instead of "In God We Trust" (which wasn't put on coins until the Civil War) it said Mind Your Business.

I'm gonna add a dictionary to my birthday and Christmas list. I still have the... 1987 one I used in middle school in the '90s and I need an update.

Everyone gets free healthcare. EVERYONE. No one should have to ration essential care or die from something like a cavity not being filled in a world when we have treatments for that. And vaccination policies? Mandatory.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

Anyone who’s ever used emergency contraception or gains peace of mind by even having it on hand owes Dr Camp a debt of gratitude. What a force.

(Also, I just learned one reason the FDA rejected it at first was that they said the name Plan B was too glib!)

Great obit—no paywall.

Lamb by Christopher Moore is seni-responsible for why I left the church I grew up in and tried different denominations. Who knew a comedic take on the life of Jesus would change me like that? Not I, when I bought that book!
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

You know that series Like a Version, where a singer will cover a song that's out of their wheelhouse? If you were on there, what would you sing?

I have 2 picks: Broken Horses by Brandi Carlisle or Whip Appeal by Babyface

a man with curly hair and glasses is making a funny face and saying huh .
