Library enthusiast and unskilled crafter. Opinionated mom. APN tutor in MKE. I gave myself bangs on November 6th and I don't regret it.
It's weird how there's one day that your baby doesn't sleep through the night, and you blink and then that same baby is telling you through the door as you shower that he's going to grab his pens and paper to draw until he hears the birds outside so he doesn't wake Daddy up.

@raffic.bsky.social I made a playlist for my yet-to-be-born nephew to radicalize him with child-friendly protest songs and your music is at least 50% of it.

As a silly haha, I referred to Pilgrims as "English migrants" in a discussion board for my ETHICS CLASS, but created a shibboleth that revealed that half the class rewrote my response because how is EVERYONE drawing the same conclusion using the phrase "English migrants" in an, AGAIN, ETHICS CLASS.

Seeing people talk about the hard right turn on TikTok after the app was down for a single day. My husband made up "the Cassandra prize" for me when I correctly predict a thing people tell me I'm paranoid for thinking. I won another one today! I'm looking forward to expanding my collection.

My husband lovingly and kindly prepared a giant Stanley cup of tea for me to drink as I recuperate from some new plague my four year old brought home. I waited about an hour to drink it and still ended covering my tongue in a pattern of pinprick blisters because the thing maintains SO MUCH HEAT.

Is it just my algorithm or are other people seeing the shift in the TikTok algorithm lately? I would be shocked if the app disappears now, because my FYP went very right wing about a week ago. I'm leaving the app regardless.

I just cannot imagine how that must have affected parents. I know it did, as there are touching poems, letters, musical works where grieving parents express their sadness. E.g., this Tombeau Robert de Visée wrote for his two daughters, who died in quick succession from a fever

Reading 17th c sources for my new book (slowly) and there's one thing I just cannot get over: the staggering infant mortality. Even among nobility, royalty, the super-rich. It was not unusual for instance for someone being the 5th born child, but the first to survive beyond infancy.

I think I'll be leaving TikTok regardless of whether or not it's banned. It's been pointed out to me that perhaps my mental health would be better if I didn't know that there are moms publicly freaking out over pajama days because CHILDREN WEARING PAJAMAS IN PUBLIC is bad? (Kim, people are dying).

It is very annoying when someone posts a controversial mom opinion on TikTok like they're some brave warrior just to shut down the comment sections when the comments get doi links in them. WHAT, I THOUGHT YOU WEREN'T AFRAID OF RESEARCH. You said you did your research!!! Was that in your research????

I'm taking a psychology class as a prereq for nursing school next year, acting like an absolute menace on the discussion board. Stretching the limitations of "college writing" by quoting Taylor Swift and advocating for the invention of a time machine to prevent the repeal of the Fairness doctrine.

Buying physical media to ensure you have access to your favorite medias is so humiliating because what do you MEAN Saving Silverman is one of my favorite movies? Why did I have to learn that about myself???

Reading an issue of @nationalgeographic.bsky.social from 1962, in which in learned that in 1962, they thought that the population of the earth would be 50 billion in 2026. I'm a touch early, but I don't think that birth rates quite kept up with the baby boomers' projections.

My sister in law does not like advice but is pregnant and I was a Covid mom who had to do it on my own so I'm making a tiny book of advice on a notebook I made with my son's art as a Trojan horse. I should regret this but I am an oldest daughter and I can't help how I was made.

Bluesky is nice but TikTok supplies me with regular supercuts of all the best Spike scenes in Buffy or shippy montages of Mulder and Scully. How do I bring that energy here?
