if that headline makes you go 🙄 you need to read this
really great article about the dubai chocolate foodwashing and how its more than just a "dumb tiktok trend"...

I already cringed everytime I see dubai propaganda in ads and know I hate it even more

“Dubai Chocolate” is Regime Propaganda
The viral pistachio-filled candy bar is everywhere—but there’s nothing sweet about the United Arab Emirates and its human rights record.

Art vs Artist 2025 version ✨ I've painted a lot this year! And read a lot! And written a lot!

I do like what I make, but I want to become even better, and right now I yearn to study and evolve, while drawing my blorbos and just doing stuff for fun again. ❤️

It also ignores population growth and how much cheaper and then necessary access to those things got. There are so many reasons this is a dishonest comparison.

Might as well ask how long the telegraph took to get 800 million users.

I hate these charts so much because they imply chatgpt is comparable to the internet or phones

You could create the same graphic for full screen pop-up advertising on websites and make them look like ultra-rapid technology adoption when really they were just baked unavoidably into the internet
In 2025, AI became pervasive in American life and the economy, with ChatGPT surging in adoption much faster than any other major technology in memory. @nytopinion.nytimes.com

IPv6 is a wonderful example of what happens if you let a disparate group of engineers try to solve all the pet problems they can think of rather than just the problems that need fixed.

Doubling the IP address size (with legacy V4 being 0.0.0.0.A.B.C.D) would have been more than fine, even now.

It's really more of a djinn ring situation though where you're selling a mystical being that will grant wishes for you, that you keep enslaved in an object.

If djinn are real I don't think you should legally be allowed to buy and sell them. If AI is sentient you shouldn't be allowed to sell it!

Auteur theory is weird here too like do we look at novelists and artists and be like "oh the solo auteur??" "Oh they didn't write that book, they had an editor".

Like I think we often need to break down what 'solo dev' usually actually means in most(but not all) cases, but kill it???

Was celebrating my copyright case win against shops that have been stealing my work for years. Got called a Karen for going after “small artists just trying to survive.”
What’s the funniest reason someone got mad at you on Bluesky this year?

Men doing this whole “I will vanquish continents for my children” LARP is so goofy in the context of household surveys. It’s nice you’ll kill millions for your daughter, maybe we can start at doing a load of laundry for your wife who does the vast majority of household labor?

I'm dealing with this guy right now who runs an Arabic language program, and they keep FOIAing his emails, and he asks me "what do they want from me?" And the answer is "nothing," they are doing this because they have been given Zionist donor money and they need to look busy.

If you see items in a black box like this on the Amazon app (presumably similar on desktop), do NOT use Amazon to purchase. Go to the artist's site directly to see what they actually have, buy more easily, and not support this garbage concept that big corps can scrape whatever they want.

Oh god it's worse, a single `git clone` request can cause the server to allocate over 2Gi of ram to service that request. What.

How was this allowed to be shipped.

"Why don't all these end-of-year best movie lists include scrolling tiktok, the most popular thing people do with their eyeballs?"
Seen on LinkedIn—I’m frustrated by how some industry vets seem *resentful* of the traditional game audience. You can make this point without calling people “boomer core gamers.”

The vibe of posts like this is “they don’t make us enough money, why should we make games for them?”

I would like to thank upcloud for sponsoring wafrn with upcloud credit. The dev instance and this one im on are hosted there!

We are also experimenting with S3 and wouldn’t had been possible without their help!
the more you interact with the UpCloud account on bsky the more time it gives engineers to write off doing open source projects during work time under the marketing budget
