🎉 BOOK BIRTHDAY 🎉

Today is THE DAY my debut SF thriller makes its way out in the world!

This is a dream I’ve held close to my heart for decades and I am so happy and grateful.

With a HUGE thank you to the large village of people who have made this possible.
Snowy day and so many woodland creatures on the move!

I think these are rabbit tracks.

It's hard to say how things will play out over the next few decades, whether in this bizarre industry, or the political upheavals of any of our countries, or just life in general. All you can really control is the work, and I for one would like to leave behind a big pile of it

Missing in the deep sea: The unsettling mystery of zombie worms
Bone-eating zombie worms vanished from Pacific canyons during a 10-year study, raising concerns that oxygen loss is altering the deep ocean.

I don’t do New Year’s resolutions in January unless they are fun, frivolous and easily actioned.

Like the year I resolved to become a Dr. Who fan after never watching a single episode or to become a fountain pen enthusiast.

I did both! No backsliding. It was great.

Well 2025 is nearly gone and what a year!

I reached a bunch of milestones and firsts with my writing and I am both proud and humbled by it.

I transitioned from an unpublished writer to a published writer with the debut of my sci-fi novel: THE MIDNIGHT PROJECT.

"This story doesn't need a sandworm"

This is almost always wrong. Arguably, EVERY story benefits from adding a huge subterranean worm with quasi-mystical or semi-supernatural powers, or equivalent (similar to Moby Dick).

Obviously the bigger the worm, the more literary quality it adds.

I love decorating the tree every year.

This ornament came to me from my grandmother. Always brings a smile.

I really like it too, but then I'm biased as I was lucky enough to help select it for publication, not to mention I got to edit it. ;)

Just your regular reminder that we don’t understand much of what happens in the deep ocean and the reality of this part of our world is more wondrous than we have imagined.

So love wobbegongs. Everything is good about the wobbegong. Its name. Its flattened Oscar the Grouch face. Its frondy bits. Its lazy life as a hungry rug. And it’s a shark. Outstanding animal 10/10
The Tasselled Wobbegong is a master of disguise that can eat a fish almost as big as itself in one gulp. It's classified as a shark, but when it lays on the sea floor it looks like a harmless rug if you manage to see it. But with powerful jaws and sharp teeth they are no fish to mess with.
