A (quite) young movie lover said to me recently, "Not everybody can afford a DVD player," and I said "How much do you think a DVD player costs?"

He said, "I don't know, like $500?"

Those of us who advocate physical media are maybe not doing the best job of messaging.

It’s hard to not see the Netflix/WB news as a sort of doomsday scenario. The constant mergers and large scale absorptions of brands might be good for business, in theory, but they are bad for art; they are bad for creators; they are bad for preservation. Which makes it bad for us.

He’s like a guy who stopped discovering new bands when he reached middle age. Always felt his arthouse inclinations were overstated; now that he’s older, he’s more willing to admit this is the stuff he actually likes.

It's really funny how posh Reform types see a bald, accented, white guy who loves takeaways and just can't comprehend that he isn't racist.
Important moves happening in the Great Game of British politics.

The funniest thing about Polanski's 'The Tenant' (1976) is he tried to make Isabelle Adjani look as strange-looking as everybody else, but instead she looks like a hot nerd.

DiCaprio is really good at playing the kind of aging leftist who just wants to stay at home and listen to Steely Dan and not deal with phones and is tired all the time.
