Scientist. Women’s health. Figuring out how to protect reproductive rights without getting hacked. If you make me laugh out loud, I’ll follow you. https://www.cathieklapperich.com/ The painting is by David Gonville https://www.gonville.com/
He has a doodle. Good first step.
Quarter-zip on the memoir cover, not chore coat? Interesting. Anyway looks like he's running.

Jesse Jackson appeared on Sesame Street in 1973.

During his appearance, he led a group of children in reciting his well-known poem “I Am Somebody,” a message focused on self-worth and empowerment

The segment became one of the most memorable celebrity appearances from the early seasons of the show.

YES. Had a candidate (not faculty) who grabbed a grad student during the visit.
And ask the grad students. A place I used to work as a grad student had a finalist in for an interview, who turned out to be a complete creep when talking to a group of students instead of the faculty. We unanimously told the faculty no. They didn't hire him.

Did you see this loooorge bear contently floating?
Franzi Schimmer captured this Grizzly bear in Brooks Falls, Alaska just floating along, tippy-tapping down the river, browsing the salmon.

Prior to hibernation, up to 40% of a bear's body mass is fat, which is less dense than water (~0.9 g/cm^2), so the murder-monster is also a floaty-boaty.

Measles is coming for all these religious colleges with no vax requirements. They are a concentration of kids from all over with vaccine hesitant parents. Next up meningitis.
“More than 40 measles cases have been reported at Ave Maria University in southwest Florida, the largest outbreak on a college campus in recent history.
The outbreak at the private Catholic college has raised concerns among university leaders and public health experts” @jackiantonovich.bsky.social

A vast majority of profs would never go near this kind of shit. We know who the creeps are. And as a result, we don't get access to certain pots of money. Just another arena where playing by the rules starts you out at a disadvantage.

I think the greatest gift college professors in the humanities can give to students right now is a seminar room where, for 80 minutes twice a week, nothing that happens to them is a sales pitch for an AI product.
