I just wanna be clear concerning the Church protest in Minneapolis...

and please feel free to disagree

are you more concerned with the sanitation of the worship experience

Than the dehumanization of the human beings around you?

i have been meaning to write something longer about how the various ideologies of the tech right are just warmed over pro-slavery apologetics
So much of the reactionary tech elite and rationalist movements' views, epitomized in Elon Musk, are indistinguishable from Calhounism. Here is Calhoun's famous 1948 speech arguing that Jefferson's assertion that "all men are created equal" was wrong. teachingamericanhistory.org/document/spe...

Reminder: slavery hasn’t been abolished in the United States.

The 13th amendment says slavery is legal as a punishment for a crime.

Black Americans have been living under mass incarceration for decades, what we are seeing is an acceleration of this system.

"More specifically, it was college-educated Black women — not those with less education or advanced degrees — who lost the most ground. In 2024, 74 percent of Black women with bachelor’s degrees were employed; that rate fell to 71 percent in the first nine months of 2025"
“The unemployment rate for Black women rose significantly from the start of 2025 to December, where it stood at 7.8 percent. That pattern of dramatic job loss was not seen for other groups.” www.nytimes.com/2026/01/17/b...

This is surreal. 4 Oglala Lakota men kidnapped by ICE in Minneapolis have finally been located. One of them was released but the other 3 are being held at Fort Snelling, a former concentration camp used to imprison Native people incl. the Dakota 38 during Dakota Wars.

Anthropic has two simple messages these days. AI is going to destroy the economy by stealing all the jobs but don't worry they're building the "good AI" and the AI has already stolen the jobs of their development team but that's actually a good thing.
Anthropic says its buzzy new Claude Cowork tool was mostly built by AI — in less than 2 weeks
Boris Cherny, head of Claude Code, said that Anthropic's AI coded "pretty much all" of Cowork, a new tool that's been well-received among techies.

Next week: we take over elections to stop “fraud.”

Since ChatGPT came out in late 2022, over *half a million* tech workers have been laid off. That fact, and their voices, aren't really shaping the conversation about AI, and what "AI" really means in culture. So I started to get into it: www.anildash.com/2026/01/06/5...

Whenever I correctly point out that there is no opposition party in US politics, the usual suspects swarm to screech about Dems having no power. If these folks are correct (they are not), then they should BUILD POWER. They aren't doing that.

For years now, moderates have decried the division of identity politics of Democrats, ignoring of course that the Republican Party was defined by identity politics itself — the identity of whiteness. Now that it’s explicit the inability to call it out and to cover it aptly is starkly disappointing.

1-the one extended period where this ratio <2 (still >1 tho) *and* rates were low in absolute terms was post-peak pandemic in the Biden era (2022-4).
2-a target rate of 5-6% unemployment (policy for much of the last few decades) is a perpetual recession for Black workers.
I hear there's discourse about race and employment in the US
