Good time for an intro!

I write ABOUT #ttrpg at Cannibal Halfling Gaming:

cannibalhalflinggaming.com

And I write games myself - it's statistically likely that there will be a giant robot involved, but it's not *always* the case:

Might be stealing their thunder a little here but I am starting the year over on @dicecompany.bsky.social running the incredible EAT THE REICH by @rowanrookanddecard.bsky.social games!

So if you are hankering to hear some Nazis being brutally fucked up by vampires, you know where to go!
Eat the Reich: Part 1
It’s 1943, and a crack group of vampire commandos are coffin-dropped into Nazi-occupied Paris, their mission: tear through Hitler’s forces with blood magic and raw violence, and drink all of Adolf Hit...

Opened up a file for an older game that I thought was never-need-to-touch-it-again completed, just to do a self-check on style and layout choices, and IMMEDIATELY spotted a typo. Ugh. UUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHH.

The longer generative AI exists, the more of what we take for granted is going to become toxic cognito-hazard waste.

We are living in the era of contamination.

It is happening all around us, and the people doing it have names and addresses. 13/13

The 'how' and the 'why' are foundation-level important when you're self-publishing (especially when you're trying to make physical versions), or at least I think they are, and I think they need to be re-visited from time to time. Started the most recent having-a-think last month.

I think I need to charge a bit more for things if I want to keep doing this.

I've never dreamed of making a living off of writing (well, not since college age, anyway), but I wanted it to be self-sustaining. Not a drain on anything else. Same prices for four years, it's... teetering a bit, now.

Clearly I had not taken the game's name seriously enough.

What really makes it hilarious is that my first character's corpse got used as a bullet sponge/melee weapon by everyone, including my second character who called him an idiot, for the rest of the mission.

Death In Space. The GM very clearly telegraphed that the airlock of the derelict ship we were about to board was being watched by a camera. Asked 'are you sure?' and everything when I said I wanted to go through the airlock.

I was immediately shot in the face.

The Cog That Remains feels too big in terms of page count to count as a zine, although granted that's because of the actual play log, so maybe I could get away with it. Tales from the Cockpit has never had a full print run of its own. Lost Among The Starlit Wreckage is running low at IPR again...

... sleeping on it didn't make the idea of crowdfunding a print run of something for ZineQuest go away.

This is probably a daft idea or a sign I didn't sleep on it *enough* because I Have No Idea What I'm Doing.

Although when DO I?

Hrrrm, payment goes through on the 8th... Adobe will probably get one more handful of cash from me, then, I'd want to get a proof back before pulling the plug and moving on.
January 5, 2026 at 11:48 AM
But which game, though?

I've actually shied away from getting many actually-exchanging-letters epistolary games so far because, well, didn't know who I'd be exchanging letters with.

FIGHT ME.

(sounds like a neat idea)
January 4, 2026 at 9:38 PM
Citizen Sleeper got me that way last night, and Slay The Princess got me that way a few times, so while Scarlet Hollow is on the must-play list I'm going to have to give it a bit to catch back up on sleep. 😅

Despite the name of the blog I PROMISE we're not trying to roast you alive, we just want to show you cool TTRPG stuff.
browsing the internet used to feel like you were uncovering hidden new zones and getting rid of fog of war now it’s like a bunch of cannibal maniacs are chasing after you with crossbows trying to roast you alive
