In a recent interview, the health secretary also suggested that the measles vaccine had harmed children in West Texas, center of an outbreak.

In retrospect we should have reacted much more strongly to people being like “you’re just virtue signaling, you’re just saying you have virtue, you’re just treating virtue like it’s a good thing for an adult human being to have, you just want to run around everywhere having morality and being good”

Before November 2024 I couldn't bring myself to contemplate & publicly articulate what a Trump win would mean. Every scenario that came to mind seemed so outrageously extreme that I worried I'd sound like a hysteric if I said it publicly. Turns out my wildest future tripping underestimated him.

There were howls of protest and denial from the GOP any time we pointed out that Republicans want to cut Social Security.

Now the most powerful official in the White House goes on TV and calls it "the big one to eliminate."

Trump constantly took credit for Biden's record-breaking stock market, yet blames Biden now that his stock market is in free fall.
Hassett: "We've got a Biden economy. Still, most of Biden's policies are in place. If you look at the Atlanta Fed GDP now number, it's showing negative first quarter, which is kind of a metric of the inheritance of President Biden."

Alina Habba: "The only people that should be losing sleep right now are the Democrat Party. It's the Nancy Pelosis who we're looking at, it's the Liz Cheneys, Pocahontas. We're looking at all that stuff and we're gonna find out why you're so rich on government money."

The really striking thing here is that any normally reasonable person would stop for a reality check here. Is there probably waste and fraud in SS claims? Sure. Is it even remotely plausible that A THIRD of claims are fraudulent, and no internal audit, no OIG review, no GAO analysis noticed?
There is approximately zero chance this is even in the same zip code of the ballpark of true.
Elon Musk says "10% of federal expenditures" are due to people having fake Social Security numbers, claiming it is "half a trillion dollars."

This country’s founders knew that “treason” was a claim so vulnerable to abuse that they took the trouble to define it narrowly in the constitution: “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.” /1

I was sort of willing to let the Dem Senators slide on the cabinet picks early on, but if after the past month and a half they can't behave like a proper opposition in the face of what is a totally corrupt & lawless administration, there's at least 32 who are worse than useless.
The Senate just voted 67-32 to confirm Lori Chavez-DeRemer as labor secretary, which means a lot of Dems voted for her. During a fucking constitutional crisis.
