CW for CSA. This thread is absolutely correct. For some of the most blatant examples, look at basically any discussion of Polanski, and how often his defenders blame the victim's mother.
when you understand that patriarchy views children as sexual property it all makes sense. there's no hypocrisy. exposure to queerness & transness threatens to "corrupt" the father's property, to "lead them astray" into self-determination, to taint their future sexual value. CSA is permissible as >
Thatcher's government did this with Section 28, banned the "promotion of homosexuality" as a danger to children, while actively protecting Jimmy Savile and who knows how many other pedophiles. It's the same damn playbook.

In 2025, media often misuse the term ‘blood libel’ to describe e.g. accusing the IDF of war crimes, but it turns out the lecturer was literally teaching the Damascus Affair, when Syrian Jews were tortured into falsely confessing to murdering a priest to use his blood in matzah for Passover, as fact.

Just saw a news article, and a bunch of commenters said that other articles had a totally different version of what happened, and someone said that the media lies, and that’s why she fact-checks news articles with ChatGPT.

Read some Mets history (and my dad's place in it, as the creator of one of these signs), and a really well-written article about the Mets, Barry Goldwater, and a brief parenthetical about one of the lawsuits against Trump.

Everyone is dunking on poor Noah Smith for getting lost and frustrated at Heathrow Airport and blaming him, which is victim-blaming and I am quite disappointed in all of you. Put the blame squarely where it belongs: on whoever failed to pin his name and destination to his sweater-vest.

In my old town the GOP had run basically without serious challenge for decades. A bunch of us "millennials" joined the local Dem party and basically asked to help.

We were running it in a year. Within 4 years we had a majority of town seats flipped Dem. A FAR more progressive Dem than old party
“Rather than taking over the Democratic Party the same way the right took over the Republican Party, we should take the easier route and just start up a new party ourselves!”

I’m about to fill my pockets with stones and walk into the sea.

if you genuinely think Schumer and Democratic leadership opposed this & Republicans coincidentally got exactly the number of votes they needed to avoid a filibuster and none of those votes are from Democratic Senators who are up for reelection in the midterms next year, I have a bridge to sell you.

Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.

agreeing to make a terrible deal while your main opponent is quite literally being boo'd on live tv by an entire stadium of people is the kind of political instinct you'd normally only find in a 3 week old dead goldfish

This vote has not happened yet. Call your Senators, especially your Democratic Senators, and tell them that a deal without protection NOW for health insurance tax credits is unacceptable.

Any “deal” that ends with Dems just getting a pinky promise in return is a mistake.

The American people are suffering because Republicans refuse to stop healthcare costs from skyrocketing. An agreement that doesn’t fix that reality falls massively short.

This is pretty much true across the board and it’s one of many reasons why short form video is deeply corrosive to society
Anyway, I'm terrified by the fact that it's been totally normalized to harass and threaten places you heard about online based on one 30 second video that was recorded without the subject's consent.
