This whole discourse is a whole lot of people showing just how gullible they are, and getting mad at people who know how things work for explaining why exactly the tiktoker in question was setting off red flags.
i don’t think the main problem with the american church is “too many of them refuse to be scammed by a lady who is obviously lying.”
There is a lady on TikTok pretending to have a baby that has gone without formula all night — she is calling churches around the country to ask if they can help.
Some of them are really embarrassing themselves. Especially the mega-churches.

I feel like this needs a good old American deep frying to properly cohere
Subway Cadbury Creme Egg Submelt (2023-2023): A 6-inch sub roll, filled with Cadbury Creme Eggs and grill-pressed until toasty golden brown. Was available for free, for one day only, at 4 Subway locations in the UK, with only 500 subs available at each location.

Absolute peak enshittification, here. Unbelievable. "We've decided to hide the standard functionality of our previous product – you know, the thing you depend on – and put it in a drop-down menu that you're unlikely to find"
This is in no way apologism for Google but click Search Tools and select "Verbatim". It makes it work how you expect

There had better be trials. And not just for the low-level thugs carrying out these orders, but for everyone up the chain of command.
If we get past this, the solution isn’t to pretend it never happened and invite Stephen Miller to Harvard’s Institute of Politics.
It’s trials w real punishments.

A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

I’ve been burned too many times by Ohio to believe it for a second, but holy shit would this be a funny outcome. The mere existence of a Gov. Amy Acton would make all the right people melt down here.

Sadly, the wackos and weirdos won all the local school board seats. But in happier news, the county library levy passed!
Did my civic duty today:

There is some sad irony in McClatchy shutting its DC bureau the same day that Dick Cheney died.
That bureau (then Knight-Ridder) did some of the best, most skeptical reporting anywhere in the run-up to the Iraq War. And they took a lot of shit for it at the time.
