I mean, we could have this. It'd just take mass action.

Absolutely do NOT give your ID or face scan on Discord. It's even worse than expected. Apparently due to people bypassing current systems, they're switching to "persona" which is funded by fucking Peter Thiel.

#Febchantment Well, the simplest is that the Shaper kills themselves. Aura cannot be held in the body too long: it builds up and burns, usually starting in the core and going outward until released (and the release can be destructive). The result can be anything from minor burns to combustion.
#Febchantment Day 13

It's Friday the 13th! So let's talk about ~misfortune~ 😈

I love a magic system with some dreadful consequences. Tell me what happens when your magic goes wrong? What happens if someone doesn't know what they're doing, or they abuse it on purpose?

#februaryworldbuilders My world of Zhiurae is known to be artificial. It is a large moon orbiting the gas giant Ama with an orbit that, based on observations of other worlds in the system, is clearly unnatural: too regular, too perfect. Additionally, research suggests the environment was designed.
#FebruaryWorldbuilders Is the origin of your world known? Is there a creation story? If you have nonphysical realms, were they also created at this time, or did they come about through some other means? What do your characters believe? Does the world's religion have any thoughts?

#febchantment One of those "it depends" things, but I'll go with the city of Sanctuary since most of the stories revolve around it.

When a potential Channeler is identified they will be taken for training as soon as possible, generally alongside regular studies up until the age of 12.
#Febchantment Day 12

What does it take to be considered a "master" of your magic system?

Is it about the range of your techniques? The difficulty level? The amount of knowledge in your head? Your ability not to set yourself on fire?

Or perhaps there IS no "mastery"?

A good article over at Cannibal Halfling, looking at the tiers of TTRPG publisher, and the difference between them. It basically goes from annual turnover of 400 million to 40 million to 4 million to 400,000 to (er) less than that.
Five Tiers of RPG Publishing
Hasbro’s annual earnings came out this week, so I took a look. It is truly staggering how much Wizards of the Coast has changed the company since they were acquired; when looking at unadjusted earn…

The whole thing's a good read. Depressing, but good.
I don’t really know what I expect in posting this, but maybe some people see it and can learn from it.

I’ll call it “lessons from an unwilling immigration attorney.”

Been browsing the #cyberpunk tag and god there's so much AI bullshit. On the plus side I've learned how to block tags so that's nice, but some of these fuckers lie in their tags.

Funny high anti-AI I am given I'm writing a novel where non-hostile AI features heavily but, eh, it is what it is.

YES, FINALLY!

I have the name for my book. It just came from a passage I just typed up and it fits the theme exactly.

"Then Why Are You Still Walking"

It makes sense in context.

#awesomecharacters Cassie's love life is uninspiring. Her first boyfriend was a guy she dated for three months, made the mistake of sleeping with, and found out he was a 30-second hero. Put her off that. Her first major crush was actually her cousin Aurelio but he was gay, joined the Army, and died.
Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters

It's February, so let's talk about romance just a bit!

Who was your character's first love?

Was it a positive relationship for them or less so?

How did it end (if at all), and how did that affect them?

#febchantment Technically? No. Aura can affect matter and energy down to the quantum level and can act at the macro-scale: the Shapers left Relics that can create objects out of seemingly thin air by rearranging particles and Zhiurae's orbit around the gas giant Ama was changed by them.
#Febchantment Day 11

What limitations did you put on your magic system to keep it from becoming too OP? Is power in short supply? Do spells take a physical toll on the body?

Note that this is about magic done RIGHT. Day 13 will be about when magic goes horribly wrong!

#febchantment To be a little less flippant, Channeling is actually an intensely physical art. Pulling energy into the body an expelling it is exhausting, dangerous, and requires training and careful technique. Araume was partly developed specifically to teach Channelers how do do it safely.
#Febchantment Day 10

How is magic actually performed? What kinds of speech or actions are needed to execute a successful spell? An ancient incantation? A hand sign? Martial arts movements?

Or is it enough simply for the caster to THINK their spell into existence?

Losing the battle to stop the Climate Collapse.
BREAKING: The Trump EPA is about to revoke the scientific finding that underpins all climate regulation.

The agency is walking back the conclusion that greenhouse gases pose a risk to public health.

This will open the door to deregulation, a win for the fossil fuel industry.
