“Dems didn’t have a real primary”

“People cared about the economy”

“Biden should’ve stepped down earlier”

“Trump had wealthier benefactors”

“Harris/Biden shouldn’t fund Israel”

All that to me isn’t right; what the 2024 election showed me was that racism and misogyny trumps everything else
When I sit and think about it I still can't really believe they elected him a second time.
Journalism is dead. Or at least, journalism as long as it is staffed, funded, and led by persons with elite credentials, Ivy League educations, and have family ties to decades long wealthy families should be considered dead
The New York Times and Washington Post learned of the impending commission of a major crime and did nothing
(Semafor) - The New York Times and Washington Post learned of a secret US raid on Venezuela soon before it was scheduled to begin Friday night — but held off publishing what they knew to avoid endangering US troops ..

The gratitude I have for the people working to bring us translations of books that have been out in other countries for decades cannot be understated. This timeline sucks but it has given us some amazing pieces of literature in English for the first time in many cases and that makes me happy.

Local advocacy is more important than ever. It's overwhelming to think about how to fix [motions to everything] but I can make it safer for seniors to cross the street, for kids to bike to school, for people to have places to meet in public space... all of which build and strengthen our democracy.
Instead of whatever this is, we should have a government getting lots of new homes and apartments built, lots of clean energy built, lots of high speed rail and transit and bike lanes built, human rights for everyone, economic & healthcare opportunities for all, & innovation that leads the world.

Yes, call your elected representatives in Washington, but also:

Show up to a community board meeting. Run for for school board. Organize your neighbors. There's a lot of manageable things you can do. Everything helps.

Why does David Frum, one of the propagandists of the Iraq War and a true Conservative believer, still have a platform?

WEAK

It's an illegal war. They lied to us. They have no plan.

Skip to the part where we impeach, convict, and remove them.

All of them.

This isn’t reformable
Thousands of internal chat messages show how ICE’s public affairs arm has raced to satisfy the White House by pumping out viral videos of confrontations and arrests.

The cruelty is the point with fascism

I’ve never even been in the service but this is incredibly dumb

Like it should be clear how idiotic such a suggestion this is

It’s disappointing that this is now the kind of opinion that is seen as controversial when it’s a bold truth

It’s disappointing to see democracy come this far and just … fail

Remember when Trump went before all those economists and financial titans to talk about his fiscal plan … and completely bombed?

He had zero concept of any financial strategy, could provide next to nothing in terms of specifics, and just hand waved his way through it
Trainwreck? In October 2024, The Economist called Biden's economy "the envy of the world."
BARTIROMO: What are you expecting the president's economic message to be?

SEN. McCORMICK: I think the message is that we inherited a trainwreck from the Biden administration and we made a lot of progress

What Senator Cotton says here would be a bad defense for the Germans convicted in WWI and WWII war crimes trials -- including for firing on shipwrecked in fully operational lifeboats.

This line of response hurts the US and US servicemembers. It will cause long-term damage unless we get this right.
WELKER: Lawmakers say the 2 men appeared to raise their arms potentially to surrender. Why did Admiral Bradley interpret these actions as anything other than them trying to survive?

TOM COTTON: They were sitting or standing on top of a capsized boat. They weren't floating helplessly in the water

She’s right

True activism means taking a stand, putting one’s life & livelihood on the line. It doesn’t mean solely posting online and it certainly doesn’t mean saying a president should step down, then speaking out relatively little while living abroad with huge sums of wealth on hand 👀

Somebody explain to me how the end of Harry Potter: The Philosopher’s/Sorcerer’s Stone - with Gryffindor winning over Slytherin - is at all just? Like in the book did Slytherin cheat for their points or was Dumbledore just like “okay Griffy’s gotta take it” and manipulate shit?

I am fully convinced the Republican Party just wants to destroy America; they, for some goddamn reason, truly hate this country, its people, and everything about it and are intent on destroying every aspect of what made/makes it great
National parks have SO MANY people from other countries (since they get real vacations!)

And they spend a lot of money on hotels, food, souvenirs, etc.

This is unbelievably dumb, it will destroy entire tourist towns

I’ll hold my breath, but honestly I’m fairly certain most would be glad to see this happen. I don’t think there’d be much outcry with him being replaced by any real leadership, GOP or Democrat.

That said, if he is replaced, then Dems need to hammer the GOP senators who voted “yea”
(MSNOW) - President Trump is considering removing Kash Patel as FBI director in the coming months, as he and his top aides have grown increasingly frustrated by the unflattering headlines Patel has recently generated, according to three people with knowledge ..

Once again, Trump likes and admires Putin and wants to help him win
Here is Trump's full 28 point plan for Ukraine. It would destroy Ukraine as a sovereign state and leave it helpless to face a Russian attack in the future. It would also give Putin full vindication and immunity from prosecution.

Conservatives (in this case Republicans) hate women, have always hated women, have always made policies to make women 2nd class citizens, and will continue to make women 2nd class citizens

The DoE has reclassified numerous health professional and other degrees, limiting access to federal student loan programs eligible for the higher OBBBA loan caps from thousands to a few hundred.

As ALWAYS, this is about $$.

On a related note a great political strategy for Dem billionaires (if they actually cared about democracy which, let’s face it, not really) would be to buy up, fund & staff local newspapers to cover current events
one of the underrated factors for the rise in scamming across U.S. society is the death of local media.
It gets lost in the shuffle, but the Speaker of the House is someone who, by all rights, should’ve had his career ended a decade ago by a Shreveport TV news investigative team.

You do know that everyone in both parties involved with this are going to have to go to prison right ?

Like all of them at a minimum must never be allowed to see freedom again.

Every one must go. It’s essential to the reestablishment of democracy that this entire network must go down.
