These gambling ads during the super bowl are really horrible on many levels and I think will become emblematic of many issues happening today.

One thing I find funny, as I try to heat up some snacks for the super bowl, is that my oven refuses to work (double beeps at me if I try!) until I reset the clock after a power outage.

American news orgs should almost never hire from upper tiers of mainstream English news orgs. They're worse than us in many ways...

I am pretty sure that Elliott Gould never hosted The Muppet Show, so him. Cause he's great and well.

Everyone anywhere near the levers of power is a morally bankrupt monster. But moral bankruptcy doesn't matter, if you are not financially bankrupt. There's nothing I can do about any of it except making ineffectual jokes, so I will continue doing that.

I thought we had had enough ice melt for this storm. I am pretty sure we do not. Alas. Been a looong time since we've had accumulation like this in this area.

I don't particularly like eating mushrooms (fine in some contexts) but I am continuously fascinated with how weird they are compared to plants.
With most psychedelic drugs, you never know what you're going to get. But this mysterious mushroom from China - without fail - causes users to hallucinate tiny people: crawling up walls, popping out from under furniture and marching under doors. www.bbc.com/future/artic...
'They saw them on their dishes when eating': The mushroom making people hallucinate dozens of tiny humans
Only recently described by science, the mysterious mushrooms are found in different parts of the world, but they give people the same exact visions.

The Virginia House already did this on Wednesday.

It's official: there'll be a referendum later this year on the issue.

The publication history of Robert's Rules of Orders is weird but here's a fun page from the beginning of a late 1990s version of it. I still use IRC but it tickles my fancy to see it in a book like this from then.

Regarding today’s shooting in Minneapolis, recall that in mid-October a federal agent shot and almost killed D.C. driver Phillip Brown under similar circumstances. The agent claimed Brown was driving towards him as he tried to flee from a police stop.
