I'm now open to work and looking for my next role as a Writer or Game Designer in games, now that my contract has ended.

I have worked on the award-nominated Civilization VII, and have many other indie and AA projects where I was responsible for content, systems and production.

adding re: game writers

It's such a conundrum because every project is different. Some games want you to only do writing, in others (particularly indie) you're juggling narrative design, game design, editorial/MarComm

yes, we have to consider different angles and explore different disciplines.
both games writers & games journalists face the same misguided perception: that their experience is too niche & they can "only" do games writing/games journalism... even though they must consider angles & do the kind of work that no other non-games writer or journalist needs to think about

I'm still looking for full-time or contract work – I'm a narrative design generalist with credits on multiple shipped titles. I focus on taming the complexity of narrative systems, writing prose, and leading narrative teams.

One of the best moments from #GDC in 2024 was Jarory's hot pot invite—so if you're going, reach out to them ASAP!
Alright, it's that time where I start gathering folks for Hot Pot Squad at GDC. Who will be attending and want to grab hot pot with me? Bonus, it'll be my birthday.

Maybe niche, but Crush 40's tracks for Sonic Heroes are songs I still listen to.
What's your favorite gaming soundtrack?

Whether it's iconic chiptunes from your childhood, sweeping orchestral RPG scores, or thematic yet subtle music from your favorite horror game - what would you consider your favorite gaming soundtrack (bonus points if you can tag the composer as well)?

The community of a game is in many ways a by-product of that game's design, and of design considerations that need to be thought of at the beginning if you want to be intentional about them.

When you're designing a multiplayer game you are also designing your game's community and social space
