On this day in 1989, an armed gunman murdered 14 women at École Polytechnique de Montréal. Another ten women and four men were injured.
The anniversary of the massacre is commemorated annually on Dec. 6 as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

In ancient Mesopotamia, astronomers needed to know the moon’s position, even on a cloudy night.

So they made records and calculations of the moon’s positions and velocity measured in degrees. This record from Uruk or Babylon from the Seleucid period covers 248 days.

When the two-part miniseries Anne of Green Gables debuted on CBC on Dec. 1, 1985, nearly six million Canadians tuned in. It went on to win 10 Geminis, an Emmy and a Peabody.

Knives Out 3: Wake Up Dead Man is excellent. I hope Rion Johnson keeps making these movies into his nineties. It isn’t just a good cozy mystery movie, it is about something, radicalization, misinformation, and tribalism.
Great performances all around, especially Josh O’Connor.
