I ride the bus

A black Nissan Rogue, TN plate 3 PD 3046, Davidson County, bumped me while I was riding my bike on Charlotte Ave today, near 28th in Nashville. I was not injured or knocked off my bike, but he drove close enough to hit my elbow. TN law says to give bikes 3 feet of room when passing.

The bigest obstacle to this plan is the Renaissance Hotel's valet parking. The Renaissance valet drivers had a dedicated entrance to the Downtown Library parking garage, before it burned down. This meant they made a left into the garage from the hotel and then did a U-turn when returning the car.

Fog

(The beg button crossing Charlotte on Morrow has been improved. There was no traffic, so as soon as I pushed the button, the light changed. Before, it wouldn’t change until a driver was waiting to go left onto Charlotte.)

"A distracted pedestrian might cause a minor inconvenience. A distracted driver, enabled by street design that encourages high speeds, can end a life. To treat these as equivalent is to ignore the fundamental physics of power and force." -Lanrick Bennett

Council just unanimously approved a bus fare suspension amendment to a SNAP resolution (left). WeGo announced new Journey Pass enrollment events earlier today (right) but council just sent a clear message that we must do more

Share these events with SNAP recipients and service providers:

YEP! In NYC, free fare pilot resulted in a 39.8% decrease in verbal and physical assaults on bus operators. In Kansas City, 40% decrease with fare free.

Stop the classist & racist dog whistles about safety and use the data we have from other cities. Anything else is disingenuous, bigoted BS.
There's evidence that eliminating the fairbox as a conflict point reduces assaults on operators.

If your last name is BLAND maybe you’re not ready for the SPICY FARE-FREE MOVEMENT.

The idea that fare-free buses would lead to overcrowding assumes one of two things.

1. Wealthy people who spend thousands of dollars a year maintaining a car would no longer be discouraged by the $2 cost of a bus ride.

A growing coalition is calling on WeGo to freeze fares during the lapse in SNAP benefits. Riders shouldn’t have to choose between going to the food bank and going to a Metro agency to get a bus pass. Let’s make transit a lifeline, not a burden.

When I lived in Cleveland Park, one of the self-appointed leaders of the neighborhood association was a Guardian Angel. Once at a fest, he showed up with some other GAs with their red berets and patrolled the park. He gathered any rocks he could find and threw them in the trash.

Why can't we just reduce fares for the people who need it?

We should abolish time zones. Dolly Parton would sing about working 3 to 11, but besides that, not much would be different.

When I was a kid, my mom would put a mattress over the front window when we ran out of candy, because trick-or-treaters would come if they saw the tiniest bit of light.

I think for Bi-State Development Agency, St. Louis area public transit, Commissioners elected by district would be better.

Currently, on Mo side, Governor appoints from City Mayor and County Exec nominees and that has worked out poorly- public transit governed by people who don't use it.
The Chicago Transit Board will switch from being four mayoral appointees and three gubernatorial appointees to three mayoral appointees, two gubernatorial appointees, and two county presidential appointees

I had one joke i told to every house, every halloween: “what’s Dracula’s favorite drink? A Bloody Mary”
I didn’t even know what that was but it was good enough to get some candy.
Today is my favorite holiday (poor kids 🤝 Halloween). Last year's best little kid trick or treating joke was "What do you call a magical dog?" "A Labracadabrador!"
I have a Costco bucket full of chocolate bars and black heart stickers. I'm out of potatoes, but I might run to the store at lunch. 🍁🎃🥔
