I ride the bus
The one in DC looks like it sucks. But the center-running bike lanes on Riverside Drive were an improvement (with fewer parked cars/trash cans). They'd be pretty good with an 8" concrete curb protecting them.

But since the garage has been burnt down and seems likely to be closed for a long time, there's an opportunity to change the road layout. Let's turn it into a boulevard and eliminate all mid-block turns by drivers. The valet drivers can park wherever they are parking now.

The bigest obstacle to this plan is the Renaissance Hotel's valet parking. The Renaissance valet drivers had a dedicated entrance to the Downtown Library parking garage, before it burned down. This meant they made a left into the garage from the hotel and then did a U-turn when returning the car.

Not mine but it was similar to this photo.

There was a store called the Green Wagon that had a cool green Mercedes station wagon, and they would host veggie oil car meetups and sold biodiesel in addition to other natural products.

Fog

(The beg button crossing Charlotte on Morrow has been improved. There was no traffic, so as soon as I pushed the button, the light changed. Before, it wouldn’t change until a driver was waiting to go left onto Charlotte.)

The “corn” part seems redundant

If you meet the criteria

Why can't we just reduce fares for the people who need it?
November 4, 2025 at 5:43 AM
Yeah, I can barely hear a difference. So it's 3 syllables instead of 2?

Not quite. Mill Creek Valley was about 15 blocks west of the Riverfront, where the Arch is located. The Riverfront was razed in 1939, and Mill Creek Valley in 1959.

Turns out slaver ruling class were against building rail from St. Louis to Kansas (some things never change), so you would need that option.

So I reloaded with just the Missouri side of the blue line and started playing the game (using its data) instead of trying to recreate the real thing/plans. This is what I got so far. I'm sure that red line would confuse some riders.

I tried to recreate the Metro Link (+ the Green Line) in Subway Builder. The Illinois stations don't make sense because they are all parking lots. The Green Line doesn't really make sense, since the South stations are too close to each other, and the Northern ones rely on future development.

Unfortunately, this isn't just one person. It's a common practice among wealthy suburbanites to buy urban properties, let them deteriorate, and lower property values in the area so they can buy more properties. Then they just wait for their payday. (see Instagram post from @hyperhouse.bsky.social)

(I guess this person's name is Doug. I stole this from a Facebook page that didn't credit the creator.)

You're still from East Nashville

I’m uncultured so it took me several visits to the bathroom to figure out what this was.

It’s not even affordable to drive downtown and get drunk in your car anymore.

Theres one part Nashville that hasn’t changed very much since I moved here

So trying to recreate the real Metro Link in St. Louis doesn't work so well in this game. There's really no reason to go to Illinois without the subsidies from St. Clair county.

I used to be the young guy that people would ask for tech problems. Now I'm an old man yelling at Instagram destop version because I can't figure out how to make the video big enough to actually see it.
