Japan -Tim Drum (1981) #vinyl
5th and last studio album for them as Japan and its there greatest. Self produced along with Steve Nye who helped bring out the unique sound and feel. It hasn’t dated as it sounds like nothing else. Art rock at its finest. Essential

This is indeed another great BBT release. Played through this morning with the dogs out on yet another wet, windy, miserable Groundhog Day. You’d be wrong to think this might be some kind of gentle folksy prog, there’s plenty of hard edges mixed in with fluid melodic tunes 😎

This is brilliant. Their album had been no. 1 in the charts for over a month, having knocked "With the Beatles" off top spot. And they're playing 5th on the bill at a Uni gig where the champagne and buffet are the main attractions. Such innocent times.
