On New Year's Day 1915 the #Brixham sailing #trawler Provident commanded by William Pillar rescued 70 survivors from HMS Formidable which had been torpedoed by a U-boat in a storm. Pillar and his crew were awarded the Albert medal. A street in Brixham is named after Pillar.

Just a sittle solo mountain dulcimer jig for tonight's jam... acoustic style lately cause PG&E wants to be greedy... haven't really fired up the studio much this month after getting hit with such a massive bill last month. Also, its hard to feel creative with all the other stuff going on.

The Beryl Cook exhibition at @theboxplymouth.bsky.social is a triumph. Humorous, colorful and a poignant capturing of social quirks. Highly recommended.

Horrendous traffic in Torbay today. Flooding closed the main road between Paignton and Brixham and King's Ash was a total carpark. We got off lightly with the rain compared to East Devon though.

Sad news, I only saw Martin twice, once, solo, in a small back room of at the Cormwall folk festival and then a few weeks later in a much larger venue when he was part of Steeleye Span at their heyday. Mid to late 70s I can't remember the year.
Very sad to have confirmation that the great Martin Carthy is ailing and has likely played his last gig. It was a privilege to write the notes for this live album. His final quote here seems fitting: 'I have nothing to hide. I just think, You did it, for heaven's sake, to the best of your ability.'

The radio is playing "The EE official big top 40" I am curious how it compiled from streaming and radio plays. Seems those who control the playlists and streaming algorithms also control the chart.

Thanks to Feargal for shooting this little #video Fri a.m., showing impressive roots of 2 of the #trees we lost to #StormGoretti. We got off lightly & my heart goes out to others who weren’t so lucky. Glad to have power back on so we can get back to rehearsing for my Jan-Feb ->

This album has been on repeat for the past 2 days. Just beautiful, peaceful and calming. A “no filler” album. A great way to start and end a day. If you haven’t heard it yet, do yourself a favour and buy it. I promise that you won’t regret it. Right, I’m on my nose tired. See you tomorrow ☺️✨
