Jackson pressed Trump’s lawyer, John Sauer, on what might happen if the president were not subject to the nation’s criminal laws. “I’m trying to understand what the disincentive is from turning the Oval Office into the seat of criminal activity in this country” -2024 SCOTUS "immunity" ruling
You know that annoying gap beside your driver seat, where you drop stuff. never-to-be-seen again? I finally dropped my keys down there and had to get some tools to fish around. I got the keys back! And a penlight! And a pen! And two more penlights! And that Santana CD I always wondered about

Succinct summary of current society and its probable, near-term epitaph
there is just so much evidence to support the theory that states that invest in education, infrastructure etc get more prosperous overall! and yet here we are hurtling towards the most unequal societies in centuries because the billionaires own most of the media and the politicians

And I might add, the current SCOTUS is also perversely deferential to POTUS
The US Constitution was written on the assumption that the legislative branch would jealously guard its authority against Presidential encroachment and overreach.

A Republican-held Congress acting as the President's personal, unwavering, unconditional cheersquad is a crisis it wasn't designed for.
The United States is not actually in a constitutional crisis. Our Constitution works just fine.

We are in a crisis of character — where nearly every single person who has sworn an oath to uphold our Constitution and enforce the law lacks the courage, moral fiber, and decency to do what is right.

Here's the thing, Greg — free speech is still protected by the First Amendment under the Constitution.

If you want folks to stop saying you're the secret police who are kidnapping and killing people, maybe stop acting like the secret police who are kidnapping and killing people.
Bovino: "When politicians, community leaders, & some journalists engage in that heated rhetoric we keep talking about, when they make the choice to vilify law enforcement calling law enforcement 'Gestapo' or using the term 'kidnapping,' that is a choice & there are actions & consequences."

I love the idea of Lenny Bruce being the comedy act at the Joel Grey-Liza Minelli Cabaret in "Hey, Why Are These Trains Here?" 1930's Germany. This is simply outstanding, on at least three different levels, and I'm still feeling around for more. In private. Out of public view of course
this message to minneapolis from comedian zach woods is profane and also wonderful

Why are they picking on Minneapolis? Because that's where George Floyd riots happened. They're deliberately trying to trigger more George Floyd scale unrest, then invoke the insurrection act and roll in the military

Strange similarity between George Floyd protests amidst Covid, and Minneapolis ICE shooting protests amidst historic snow/cold snap over much of the US. Outrage protests don't care about the minor inconveniences like pandemic, or life threatening weather. WE SHALL NOT BE MOVED.

"'What did we learn from the Holocaust? We have to act and we have to resist,' Tracht said, running out of breath as the car turned the corner. 'If I’m not going to act and resist now, then I shouldn’t call myself a rabbi and I can’t be a proud Jew.'"

Minnesota National Guard members have arrived at a federal building and were directed to distribute donuts, coffee, and hot chocolate to anti-ICE protesters. Guard members were issued reflective vests so they would not be mistaken for federal agents.
