Sauer was dealt a losing hand but I think the best strategy would have been to attack the MQD directly. It puts the libs in the uncomfortable position of defending it and Alito/Thomas don’t care because they have Loper Bright now.
Here is Chief Justice Roberts saying: hey, so why isn't the major questions doctrine, a doctrine that has been used to strike down other Presidential actions, applicable here? /7

Fascinating. When McConnell refused to give Garland a vote, I was told there was nothing Obama could do. Turns out that wasn’t true!
This lawsuit, which demands that the House of Representatives finally seat Rep. Adelita Grijalva, has, um, fairly major implications for our democracy's survival in 2026 and beyond. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

[Donald Trump digs up Millard Filmore’s corpse and displays it on the White House lawn as Halloween decorations]

Jonathan Adler: “I get why people are shocked, but let’s not forget that Fillmore was a historically bad president…”
I get the point, but the East Wing is hardly "iconic." It was built in the 1940s to cover fhe emergency operations center.

Remind me what Stephen Miller was doing from 2007 to 2016?
"they've always been like this" is always a tempting savvy take but it is just not true that Republican staffers were 100 percent open Nazis back in 2004, or hell even 2014. they just weren't
there have been a lot of responses to this arguing that young Republicans were motivated by such feelings but didn't express them openly

and I think a crucial lesson of the Trump era is that there is great value in people not expressing these things openly! that's a big and decisive change!
October 15, 2025 at 6:08 PM
Did any other politicians, other than the Democratic governor of New York, get asked about this on camera?
Q: Politico reported on a group chat of young Republicans. Does this just reflect some bad apples?

HOCHUL: Some bad apples? These are the future of the GOP. This is so vile it's hard to find the words to put into context ... there's gotta be consequences ... this bullshit has to stop.

If SCOTUS reform is the #1 priority for Dems in Federal office, police reform should be the #1 priority for Dems in state office. In both instances, Dems need to be absolutely ruthless and use every available tool at their disposal.
Yes ultimately many Dem electeds are afraid to give police under their command lawful orders because they think they will not be obeyed and the consequences that fact would have for them and for their state.

Would like Dems to ask her the basis for her refusal to answer. And when she doesn't give one, raise a point of order with the chair, asking if it's acceptable for witnesses to refuse to answer questions without a legal basis or if that's grounds for contempt.

Also, who helped prepare this dossier?
Bondi refuses to answer questions about the Homan bribery scandal but deflects with personal attacks on Padilla

If we’re going to ever get back to some sort of normalcy, there needs to be accountability for everyone responsible for our current nightmare ESPECIALLY anyone involved in the “Come on ride the Float” NFL ad.

It’s all palingenetic ultranationalism, with different flavors based on different national histories. GWOT was a big part of ours. The internet obviously helped spread the propaganda (like the radio in the 30s) but saying “this was due to the internet” lets a ton of propagandists off the hook.
Why is reactionary politics equally or more prominent in the UK, France, Germany, Brazil, etc, though
a pretty good summary of the 21st century is that the humiliation of america's defeats in the middle east post-9/11 curdled into a reactionary politics that seeks affirmation in the humiliation of anyone who is an other: liberals, minorities, the global south, china, europe, whoever.

Wasn’t the whole lesson of 2012 that Obama defined Mitt super early - before the GOP could build a myth of moderation and it helped him win in a super unfavorable landscape?
Because the quantbrain status quo types, who can’t see the big picture past their limited proprietary data models, claim to have found the only ads that work to change electoral outcomes are those run the last two months of the cycle. That is, Sept-Oct 2026.

And the donors believe the bad data.

Police will lose body camera footage from 30 minutes ago if there are allegations of abuse. But when it’s need to rendition minorities like Abrego Garcia to Salvadorian torture camps, they have that 2022 traffic stop dash cam footage backed up in triplicate.
The level of ignorance among liberal pundits about surveillance technology, police violence, and authoritarianism is astonishing. Just no effort to understand important issues before commenting on them.

This answer needs to be understood in the context of his prior comment: “We don’t do BDAs.” His answer, truthfully, is the private assessments provided to POTUS and SECDEF at the planning stage. It’s evasive and not responsive to the intent of the questioner, specifically“WTF are you doing here?”
Q: Have you been pressured to change your assessment or give a more rosy intelligence assessment to us by any political factors?

CAINE: That one is easy. No.

The problem with the prequels is that they were made in the late 90s. Had they been green lit just a little bit later they would have been much more informed by the War on Terror (the way Lucas was influenced by the Vietnam War when conceiving of the initial trilogy).
The retcon that the Clone troopers carried Order 66 because they had brain-control chips really strikes me as emblematic of why the Prequels fail:

This should be the story of the Jedi and Republic embracing an industrialized mass-murder machine out of expediency, and where that inevitably leads.

a good example of how bad the media is at handling Trump: he lies in a very clear, provable way and instead of focusing on it Terry Moran tries to move the interview along
This exchange is so very telling.

Trump repeatedly claims the photoshopped MS-13 on Kilmar Abrego Garcia's knuckles is real, Terry Moran keeps telling him it isn't, prompting Trump to say this:

"I never heard of you. I picked you. You’re not being very nice. He had MS-13 tattooed... Just say yes!"

I suspect if you drill down on the "things aren't moving fast enough" complaints you'd find the real issue is that folks disagree with the current approach to the balancing of hardships/irreparable harm re: the Feds. For non-lawyer brained, getting him to safety immediately is the obvious priority.
Everyone's dander is (understandably) up. But it seems worth emphasizing that the federal courts, *including* the Supreme Court, are moving with remarkable speed to deal with the unprecedented flood and gravity of Trump cases.

I get the demand for *faster,* but let's not lose sight of the baseline.

There are like a dozen separate grounds for firing this guy, but after this flop sweat performance I think you need to add that he's now compromised national security by giving the EIC of The Atlantic an unacceptable degree of leverage over him, by obvious lying about their relationship.
Waltz claims he can’t remember if he’s met Goldberg (Goldberg says they’re met a couple times)

“You think we sound corrupt but actually we just sound like police officers.”
Tom Homan on what sure sounded like a quid pro quo between him and Eric Adams on Fox & Friends: "This is two cops talking. We're talking cop. Once you're a cop, you never lose that language ... this is a conversation between two cops having a good time, and people are making a lot out of nothing."

Everyone’s asking “Why are these 19 year old boys running our government?” and I’m over here asking, “Why does Elon Musk know so many 19 year old boys?”
Fyi, Ghislaine Maxwell helped Musk connect with the much younger British actress he married a couple of times. If you want to go after Elon dig into his Epstein ties, he’s super sensitive about them. Ditto Trump for that matter but I guess that ship has sailed (thanks Bill Barr).
