thank you for all the support; the statement from our union is now live here with some more reporting.
now that this is public I can confirm that the majority of today’s layoffs were women of color. there are no longer any Black women working at Teen Vogue.

For those at Penn or other workplaces offering matched payroll deduction donations right now, you might be surprised to find very local grassroots orgs included. Just doubled my donation to the South Philly Community Fridge (and Juntos)!
I just donated to my local food bank. If you can, you should too. People are already suffering but next month, in particular, is going to be so difficult.

Repeat every day: “If you reduce anyone’s suffering, if you make anyone feel defended, or aware that they’re not alone, if you make space for hope, if you engage in acts of solidarity instead of stewing in the rancor and alienation that’s killing us—that matters, and it will always matter…”
My latest. "Do not allow your values to be captured and contained behind a screen in a cycle of inactive reaction. Jailbreak your cynicism and isolation, and escape your devices. Bring your hope, rage, and potential into the world."
We Have to Move
"There are living, breathing people all around you who need your sense of decency to be made material. Don’t give up on them, or on you."

As promised, if you’re inspired by the march today but don’t know how else to get involved, how to sustainably fight fascism, that can look a few different ways. Here’s a thread of thoughts, short of nationwide withholding of labor / sustained protest:
