I will continue to read whatever RF Kuang comes out with but I really do believe that The Poppy War trilogy remains her best work by quite a substantial margin. She’s at her best when she doesn’t spell out for the reader why whatever is currently happening in the novel is Bad, Actually.

I’ve gotten better at it over the years but the amount of time and energy it takes to shop for and prepare food in a way that is affordable, relatively healthy, and low on waste is actually so insane. And it never ends.

Each I log on to Facebook, I am greeted with some relative experiencing religious psychosis, and the comments are always full of validation. The whole platform feels like I’m being held hostage at this point. Not once have I ever logged on and felt better for doing so.
