The engineer-manager pendulum model no longer accurately reflects how engineering leadership operates.

Most of us aren’t just an IC or a manager. Technology has forced us to live somewhere in the middle.

I wrote about what this actually looks like now:

The engineer–manager pendulum is breaking
The hybrid era of engineering leadership is here, and the traditional IC/manager model is no longer suitable.

"I constantly see people rise in life who aren't the smartest, sometimes not even the most diligent, but they are learning machines. They go to bed every night a little wiser than they were when they got up and boy does that help, particularly when you have a long run ahead of you." - Charlie Munger

Political violence is bad. It usually begets more political violence.

Celebrating political violence is bad. It usually encourages more political violence, against various targets.

Campus shootings are bad. They make everyone on campus less safe.

It's bad that what I wrote here is controversial.

I've done a bit of development work I'm proud of for my #Laravel documentation #MCP server, mostly as a fun project but also to help in another side project I'm working on.

Check it out, and I'd appreciate a star :) ✨

If you're using #AI to code, always use the "Concise" mode of responses/style if it's provided as an option. Helps keep your usage rate down.

Had fun watching the #NFL video of how they used to create the season schedule (pistachios!) and, as someone who runs workloads in #AWS on a 24/7 basis, took great interest in how they currently create the schedule. A job there would be crazy fun, I think.

You really have to ask yourself, if you believe your political party's leader is infallible, why do they consistently clash with the checks and balances put in place by the best system of government the world has ever seen?

I submitted my first CfP, for an AI conference no less. There's probably a 99.99999% chance it gets rejected. Still, fun times!

Watched some old VHS tapes with my brother in our old childhood bedroom. The passage of time really hits different at this age.

But with all the grieving about times gone past, reliving those memories brings enormous comfort and familiarity. Something I very much miss living in another country.
