Aw, this is nice. Loved writing this piece on LIFEBOAT for Paste. It was previously a Hitchcock blind spot and I had a blast digging deep with it.

Here's something for @popheist.com about the evolution of Godzilla from the representation of nuclear trauma to helping sell beers.
Godzilla: From King of Monsters to King of Collabs
What does it mean when one of cinema's greatest symbols of atomic destruction becomes a global brand ambassador?

Trust me, you'll know.

I post this every year to horrify @brianduffield.bsky.social

Delightfully bonkers that someone decided these two movies would make a good "comedian double feature."

My mom, the world-class filmmaker, by Zohran
In less than a week, I will be sworn in as the next mayor of New York City. It was only possible because of the more than 100,000 people who volunteered on our campaign. Here’s a story about one of them, my mother.

Will always rt Morton praise.
Revisited @brianduffield.bsky.social's SPONTANEOUS today. The film has become exponentially more profound in light of the world today. It's frustrations @ the "cosmic bullshit of the universe" reverberate and move me even deeper now.

Phenomenally lit, too (hard sources, YAY!) Incredible first film.

Always interests me to see dates on slates in behind the scenes footage to learn when things were filmed. This one for STAR TREK GENERATIONS, which opened on this day in ‘94, indicates they went way down to the wire when the ending was reshot.
