It's official! 😍
The Italian government acquired the small, double-sided Antonello da Messina panel which was withdrawn from Sotheby's an hour before the sale started. According to rumors, the funds were provided by a private benefactor, which is unique for Italy. Bravo Italia! 🎉

Happy 30th birthday to Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds' Murder Ballads: here's the late, great Dele Fadele's fantastic essay on the parallels between 90s gangsta rap and this most violent of records:

Dele Fadele looks at the grizzly but bleakly funny collection that is Murder Ballads and wonders how much of a role gangsta rap played...

Sometimes I wonder if I’ll tire of saying "@briandavidstevens.bsky.social has excelled himself” but ye gods our next two BMTatR are LITERALLY ICONIC.

Coming first GWENNO then in short order Cyndi of HANDSON FAM - both radiating galactic quantities of style and poise.

Srsly how good are these pics?

So have a look. It illuminates a lot. But also it's a good little glimpse into how much we've got in our archive now.

We need more subscribers. It's ticking along, but only covering costs really. This is labour intensive. 100 more subs would be transformative for us - and we could do a lot more!

And yeah in these extracts, XL Recordings founder Richard Russell, Prof Matthew Yee-king, Maria Uzor, Andy Bell, Joe Armon-Jones, Eska all talk about THEIR little rooms - whether the ones that inspired them, the ones they play in now or whatever.

Looking from different angles.

Linked it to some of @briandavidstevens.bsky.social 's other LITTLE ROOMS pictures - The Royal Vauxhall Tavern when the majestic Duckie was at its peak there - and pulled out some extracts from BMTatR conversations that matched the theme. "When you cut open the past, the future leaks out", right?

I’m not going to share a link, but within 24hrs of being published my illustration has been fed into AI and used to generate a video of this dinosaur, and frankly I just need this world to stop.
Seriously, what is the fucking point?
Introducing Xenovenator espinosai, a new troodontid dinosaur with some fascinating cranial anatomy. I had the honour of being approached to create the illustration for this week’s official announcement. (1/3) #SciArt
