Total anecdotes here, but I do typesetting for member rosters for a number of small local organizations. They've all been shrinking with the main membership changes being deaths. Seen a bit of a turnaround this year though and I'm curious to see if it continues next year.
When I worked for the Girl Scouts, and this was ten years ago, this was a five alarm fire. Membership organizations were crashing across the board, nobody wants to join or commit to any organization they just kind of want activities and services to be available when they feel like showing up
even the secular is dying, though
car clubs and the like are shrinking

I grew up with a ton of Focus on the Family books and videos, so I think I have a bit of a special perspective to say: good fucking riddance.
When someone awful dies, it is in fact the right time to speak ill of them. James Dobson is gone but the evil he did lives on. www.wonkette.com/p/james-dobs...

I think I have 8, 1 of which I've seen live and 3 of which I recognize beyond just the name
How many non-headliners for Lollapalooza do you recognize?

Two 3.5s out of Ontario within a 15 minute period, and within 24 hours of a 3.5 out of Rialto!

So I guess it depends on if I'm getting Pedro Pascal, Pablo Escobar, or Pedro's character from the show (since it's a bit unclear)

I don't know think any of them would be too helpful...

ordering from a restaurant supply store gets you occasional gems in marketing emails

why, WHY, 1 1/10 HP???

do I have any clue what I could possibly use this for? no

do I kind of conceptually wish maybe I had some use for it? yes

do I wonder how much this thing wrenches your hands/wrists? yes

Post a pic of when your pet was little.

Electro was tempted/fished out of a storm drain with some inventive expedient engineering and a pouch of tuna fish at about 7wks old.
These pictures are probably somewhere in the 8-10wk range.

Our order of cat food was mis-delivered today, and thankfully subsequently brought to us by the person it was delivered to. HOWEVER, this ended up being super fortuitous because I got this amazing picture of a glass-pixelated dog looking out at the delivery from the tracking info.

In the first deportation flight from EUA to Brazil, Brazilian Immigrants had handcuffs, ankle and waist cuffs. Adults and children were prevented to drink water or to eat. They were severely beaten while complaining.

A bit early over on the side of the country, but my partner is heading to bed soon so it was time for our NYE tradition of drinking chocolate!

Here's to next year! (😬)

Today we celebrated the life of Mary, who has been a great friend to my partner and I for a bit more than a decade. She was instrumental in us getting all three of our cats, and now the fourth, her cat Tommy(the grey one).

there was some WWC whisperer dude I shit-talked that blocked me, but I completely forget his name. at least one other funny one I also forget. so I guess I have to go with David Shor, who I don't think ever directly interacted with?

I honestly can't think of anything super exceptional, so I'm going to go with seeing Executive Decision in the theater with my dad. Awful movie, totally redeemed by how quickly and how unceremoniously Steven Segal's character is killed off.
What’s your best memory of watching a movie? I’m not asking what the best movie you’ve ever seen is, I’m asking about the experience of watching that movie. Doesn’t matter if it was in a theater or at home. What’s your favorite memory associated with watching a movie and why?

I was really hoping the full numbers on the website would also contain them asking the same question about flu and cold, as comparing those was my first thought upon seeing the headline numbers.

Haven't done a deep search yet, and this is asking quite different questions, frustrating.

Optimist: the cup is ½ full

Pessimist: the cup is ½ empty

Layout designer: this water in this cup would probably look better centered or justified unless you want to add some more cups or water, just be aware that we'll need to scale them all down then. Here let me give you some mock-ups
Optimist: the cup is ½ full

Pessimist: the cup is ½ empty

Land and climate expert trained in counterfactuals: ok, how much water was in the cup yesterday? How much was in the cup last year? And how much was originally in the cup before humans started altering it for drinking purposes?
Optimist: the cup is ½ full

Pessimist: the cup is ½ empty

Geographer: actually, it all depends which projection was used

These are our three (main) cats, two were rescued from the streets of Downtown San Bernardino(Electro and Nestor), one from Riverside (Cassie). Cassie had gotten the boot from her family because of URI/eye infection, and took many days of tempting with Churu, and a carrier with a string on the door
