In such difficult times when everyday families struggle to afford the basics, the decisionmaking on display by those in power - failing to address the childcare funding gap but directing hundreds of millions to Netflix and Paramount - speaks volumes. #mathisreal

Advocates demand more funding for struggling child care assistance program • New Jersey Monitor
New Jersey's child care assistance program quit taking new applicants and hiked copays because of a budget shortfall. Critics call it a crisis.

This report is especially important as the gubernatorial transition gets under way. New Jersey government is outdated (especially on the tech side) and understaffed across the board, and we all suffer poorer services and programs as a result.

Our big social media platforms have been *intentionally designed* to make it near impossible to find (and post) useful, timely information about disasters, as this article points out - this has been angering me for years.

We need “most recent” and functional search!

Which Bluesky provides.
Social media platforms are not built for this
We have simultaneously too much and too little information.

RFK jr has been one of the US’s foremost campaigners against vaccines for two decades. Dating the onset of his potential impact to his presidential campaign is … stupid??? Evil??? Both??? Why are you alibiing the guy for his life’s work?
American vaccination rates against once-common childhood diseases have been dropping. The rate of kindergartners with complete records for the measles vaccine declined from before the pandemic to last year, according to the CDC, well before Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s political rise. nyti.ms/42buOVp

Really illuminating and important piece here by @starledger.bsky.social on extremists in New Jersey and their takeover of Sussex County, resulting in chaos, bigotry, and militia groups. #MustRead www.nj.com/politics/202...
Extremists took over a N.J. county. Chaos, bigotry and militia groups followed.
In Sussex, some political leaders embrace the Confederate flag without apology and downplay militant groups like the Proud Boys.

Have any of them admitted how badly they got rolled in the most obvious of ways?
