Worth a read: de-siloing research is critical for understanding brain function, brain health and innovative treatment and repair paradigms- as noted here, to do so means it’s critical to utilize observed differences and concordance between species and studies #neuroskyence #glia

🚨Do we need a large, expensive MRI scanner to map whole-brain networks in the mouse? Not necessarily!

In our new preprint ▶️ tinyurl.com/3a2h4r9f
we show that transcranial functional ultrasound (fUSI) can map connectome-scale networks with striking agreement to fMRI

#measles is dangerous. ~30% of cases result in serious complications, particularly in children <5 & adults >30.
Bonus: Measles causes "immune amnesia", wiping out ~70% of immune memory cells, eliminating body’s immune toolkit gained in past infections, increasing vulnerability to all infections
The measles virus infects ~90% of unvaccinated people exposed to it. The infected can then infect a dozen to several hundred people each.

This well-researched piece is a chilling, powerful account of exactly how easily a kid could get measles, and how they could die of it.

Must read!

Alex Pretti "used to tell people off when they made sexist comments to female physicians. He bought me coffee when I had a really bad day as an intern...I laughed alongside him daily. He made a point to teach medical residents without judgement, but with a smile on his face and a joke."

Alex Jeffrey Pretti was an ICU nurse at a VA hospital. His life, through his profession, was dedicated to serving his community and our country.

As so many have now seen on video, his final act before he was killed by federal agents was doing everything in his power to protect his community.

Koh: Trump has now spent $30 billion from the last bill for 10,000 more I.C.E. Agents that are going to be on the streets. That $30 billion would cover all the ACA subsidies for a year. It would eliminate all co-pays for prescription drugs for people from a year, and eliminate all medical debt.
