Normalize calling for impeachment.
It is totally normal to have a few members out at any given time, and it’s conceivable Dems could have some temporary majorities in the coming months. Not that Jeffries has the balls for it but they could put some fun pressure on the Republicans. Keep them in town, force some votes on Speaker etc.
The Turner seat will finally be filled at the end of the month.
218-213 right now, will be 218-214 by Jan 30. (Dems also down Sherrill; special elex there not until April.)
WOW! Doug LaMalfa, a California Republican congressman, just died. So that means that Republicans are down TWO in their majority (MTG resigned yesterday). Democrats have one vacancy in a Texas seat after Sylvester Turner died.

Trump forged electoral certificates for New Mexico. A state he lost by 11 points.

Hillary was closer to winning Texas than Trump was to winning New Mexico.

And the basis for all of this was complete bullshit. There was no fraud. There was no legitimate contesting of the count in any state. There was nothing but Trump’s demand to be declared the winner. It’s the highest crime anyone has ever committed in US history.

The siege on the Capitol was the most visceral part of the coup but I’m not even sure it was the gravest aspect. Forging electoral certificates was the equivalent of tens of millions of fraudulent votes. And pressuring officials to change the outcome is an outrageous crime.
Former Special Counsel, Jack Smith, explicitly states:

"President Trump was by a large measure the most culpable and most responsible person in this conspiracy. These crimes were committed for his benefit. The attack that happened at the Capitol, part of this case, does not happen without him."

I haven’t ranted about this in a while but anyone calling it a “mob,” “riot” or “protest” is doing the fascists’ work for them. This was a coordinated and well-funded attempted coup and to call it anything else is pushing right-wing talking points.

Just realized I don’t know how to say “cringe” in Spanish…
Venezuelan opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize laureate María Corina Machado told Fox News she’s ready to give her Nobel to Trump, calling January 3 “the day justice defeated tyranny.”

Looks like somebody is running a PR-campaign to become President.

You can tell who the right wing is scared of by who they target their fake outrage at.
Tim Walz ending his reelection bid is a real loss, he genuinely cares about the people he serves. It’s concerning that Trump’s bully politics and false narratives keep driving real public servants out. But I, for one, can’t wait to see what an untethered Tim Walz does next. ✌️👌

It is geninuely remarkable that not a single member of congress has suggested the wildly popular move of not allowing your taxpayer dollars to go to funding a CSAM generating nazi.
its not like elon musk has billions in govt contracts while his site is also producing csam

oh wait
the most prominent republican donor in america is producing csam

i havent seen or heard of a single democrat speaking about this

Those in the Democratic party who are *NOT* calling for immediate impeachment of Donald J. Trump and Pete Hegeseth should be PRIMARIED.

The Epstein Files Transparency Act is a law, passed by Congress on November 19 with an overwhelming vote. Complying with it was not optional. The Department of Justice did not comply.

I want to make sure this is very clear.

Schumer: "Rubio I just heard in your interview said they're doing what's good for the American people. If they want to do what's good for the American people, it should not be some escapade in Venezuela. It should be focusing on lowering the cost of living that Americans are struggling with."

It's still just talk BUT they first need to get comfortable with saying it before they can do it.
Last year we saw people being yelled at for talking about impeachment. Hopefully in a few minutes we'll see people yelled at for NOT talking about it.
It is wild how far this has advanced from last year.

The way this is getting framed has changed completely.

We tend to focus on the interviewee in these clips but watch the host ask questions as if any of this makes any damn sense. Like, why not just report what happened instead of providing this platform to spread BS talking points? Stop trying to “make news.”
STEPHANOPOULOS: Why wasn't congressional authorization necessary?

RUBIO: It wasn't necessary because this was not an invasion. We didn't occupy a country. This was an arrest operation.

Anyone who thinks 🤡 attacked Venezuela out of some sort of strategic imperative for the United States really has no idea what’s going on here. He does things for himself and no other reason.
(I do recognize he has a bunch of nuts around him with various demented motivations.)
