Unsolicited writing advice, no.9:
When naming characters, it helps to consider: their age; their background; their culture; what part of the country they come from; their parents (why did they choose that name?). Same goes for non-British characters - (not all Frenchmen are called Serge :-)

This photo was taken in 1911 using glass plate technology by Herbert Ponting who was part of Scott's Antarctic expedition,

The composition and detail are exquisite with the band of white snow/ice creating a perfect frame around the two people and the ship in the distance

Iconic imo

No surprise that the highest numbers of signatories are from Newark and Wilshire where Conservative MPs defected to Reform. But we should all care about this, it's an affront to democracy which needs fixing.

FACT OF THE DAY. 17 January 1967. An article in the Daily Mail reported there were 4,000 holes in the roads of Blackburn, Lancashire. Beatle John Lennon used the article as the inspiration for lines in the classic song A Day in The Life on the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album.

Wow 🤩 Love these @darrellwakelam.bsky.social
I've been working in my old school hall this week, the one I sat in for assembly for the 4 years of Junior School. Back then, this wall had a fold-out wooden climbing frame, now, it's filled with artwork I've helped their children to make. 🙂

In hospitalized older adults, each ward change increased length of stay by 5 days and a further 1.7 days for those with dementia.

How many ward changes per 100 patients in your average hospital?

For bed days lost, times that by:

• 5 for pts ≥65
• 6.7 in those w/ dementia (10%)

West Midlands Police made a decision based on violence at football game that had been entirely invented by AI.

This is the issue that should have been discussed in UK media.

This over-hyped technology is being embedded in our daily lives.

What if AI is used to fly planes, run nuclear reactors…?
