The demented teacher, supposedly teaching maths, was in reality tormenting children’s minds. That was until the children took revenge with a voodoo doll, leaving their teacher barely able to speak or move.

There’s a man
for whom much scorn is meant
so much anger aimed
square at his head

writers of poetry
words raw and red
horror prompts for those
doting on death

Thousands of people
you will never meet
countless unseen voices

Beginnings born of endings,
first to rise after fire,
bending with the storm
but never breaking
releasing gentle spirits,
a hope that does not shout,
casting pale light
across a scarred and silent land.

Delicate as eggshell edges,
or walking on a bridge
made of feathers
as strong as an origami castle
warding off an army of thousands,
as soft as the sound of a water drop
in a large, open arena,
or an ant dancing on a leaf.

Thank you @rfsmith.bsky.social for your #PromptCombo #Moment which brought to mind a recent moment that brought home the fragility of existence. Looking forward to other contributions later

His life was full of joviality
one party after another
but then he got too cocky
he got in with a nasty crowd
made a false move
whereupon he was thrown
into a bear pit
his flesh torn to shreds
by rampant beasts

Happy dreams
cast in lengthy interludes.
Murky rivers wash over me;
those demons are hard to cast away.

Long, cold winters,
sombre songs in my head

then the mind lightens,
imagination ignites,
and new paths open.

Karma is like a shadow
never far away
those who are cruel to animals
their reprisal is the price of shame
Those who just seek riches
will have a dark hollow soul
and those who thrive on deception
will quiver in their bones
