Four GOP Senators.

At most four Repubs in the House.

Together they could stop nearly all the mad-king's rampages. They would be known to history as Profiles in Courage. They might/would lose the next election. But people have sacrificed a lot more, for a lot less.
I can't repeat this enough.
I've said this before and I'll say it again.
It would only take a tiny handful of Republican Congress members or senators to stop the slide of America toward authoritarian fascism, but nope. They're all in.

Trump thought he could intimidate Minnesotans and that we would react with riots. Instead, we showed up with compassion, resilience, and strength.

We showed the country what real resistance looks like.

This!
I keep thinking about the toxic, pervasive mythology of "rugged individualism" as a driving force in American culture, and how the collective efforts in the Twin Cities right now are proof that the only way through hard times is together, as a community.

Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

Yesterday, these incompetent fucks were just going door-to-door in a neighborhood near my house at 8:30 in the morning. School buses were driving through trying to pick up kids, people were out walking their dogs, and people were taking out their trash cans.

We are living at a time of moral urgency. The actions of ICE in Minneapolis make that clear. It is time for moral leaders -- ordinary citizens and people with power and authority -- to stand up and stand out. Compromise and deal-making are not the way forward. Telling the truth is the way forward.

HIS SIX MONTH OLD STOPPED BREATHING!

A father was getting his kids out of the neighborhood because it was unsafe & ICE threw flash bangs & tear gas at his car with children & a baby inside!

His 6 month old stopped breathing & all the children were hospitalized!

How many moms need to get shot in the face before members of congress support a sec Noam impeachment?

I see we’re at the, “C’mon, the Alabama state troopers were really being treated disrespectfully at the Edmund Pettus Bridge. Also, a couple of them got scratches that day,” level of ICE apologetics.

At least those making an impeachment effort are doing something to stop the barbarity. How many sacrificial lambs like Renee Good must we have before those wringing their hands at this effort decide to act to stop the bloodshed?
NEW: Kristi Noem is facing by far the most credible impeachment effort of Trump's 2nd term. Some House Dems are fuming.

"Noem is just soup du jour," one told @axios.com. "It's all performative bullsh*t."

Centrists say they want to focus on affordability. www.axios.com/2026/01/14/k...

"There's a frustration with all these impeachments," said one House Democrat. "Noem is just soup du jour."

I know people on Bsky know this but I hope it filters out: The feds are OCCUPYING the Twin Cities. This is a blockade, a siege. They are shutting down economic and civic activity. They are conducting "papers please" stops. They are criminalizing being a bystander/witness.

You could be next.

Wouldn't it be great if more leaders in business, education and the legal profession would follow the example of Chairman Powell.
When elected officials, appointees or business leaders refuse to do Trump’s bidding, his instinct is to ignore constitutional limits and retaliate with threats, political pressure or, most shocking, criminal investigations

Chairman Powell is right to stand up to this abuse of power

Attempting to criminalize the actions of an independent public servant, Fed Chair Jay Powell, for the sin of acting independently is an outrage. It's bad economics, bad politics, bad for the rule of law, bad for the public sector, bad for American credibility and bad for Americans.

I am impeaching Secretary Kristi Noem, who is an incompetent leader and a disgrace to our democracy.

She wreaked havoc in the Chicagoland area and has brought her reign of terror to Minneapolis. One of her rogue ICE agents shot and killed an innocent woman today. It must come to an end.

The difference is in agenda. The titans want money and power. They prioritize that over all else, including morality or even common decency. Many -- not all -- everyday citizens want communities that work for them and their families, and that support the well-being of all people.
Today once again proved that everyday citizens protesting their government are braver than the titans who own the largest media corporations, run the biggest law firms and lead the most powerful technology companies.
