In honor of Lane Kiffin’s ‘announcement’ today, Ravens should tell Harbaugh he needs to fly to Pittsburgh early, take him to BWI and just leave his ass there
remember when John Harbaugh made a mockery of Baltimore after visiting our fascist asshat president. literally laughed off a more than fair question.
Reporter: In the past Donald Trump has said denigrating things about Baltimore including ‘no human being would want to live there’.

John Harbaugh: Yeah. Yeah.

Reporter: As a prominent representative of Baltimore -

John Harbaugh: *laughter*

it’s so painfully obvious that this all starts at the top- zero discipline, zero accountability, just harbaugh giving that stupid face into space forever saying ‘hey what’re you gonna do? sometimes you just lose games right?’

Shout out to all science educators in all fields, at every level- it ain’t easy out there for us but we’re all doing our best for our students and for the next generation of scientists and I’m grateful for that ❤️
"… in the final stretch of the year, let’s recognize everyone who continues to do the important work of great teaching, despite the discouraging climate." writes H. Holden Thorp in a new #ScienceEditorial. https://scim.ag/3XeEqei

My favorite thread every year.. always loved all the central valley farmworkers and all the work my dad did with UFW/worker rights and safety issues throughout the 80s and 90s. as much as I love Bmore, most of my ashes will be back in Fresno county after all of this is done ❤️
As you’re preparing for your Thanksgiving meal, remember the skilled work it took to get that food to your grocery store.

Tell us your favorite Thanksgiving dish, and we can share some of what we know about the work behind the ingredients.

Evergreen soapbox for me but until we literally make the streets safer to navigate Bmore will not be the major player we deserve to be! Imagine the streets we’d have if every driver had to bike for one week to see how their behavior keeps us all back and less safe!
A few years of biking and walking to work alongside post-Covid drivers radicalized me. Hit twice and so many near misses. Lost a job over it and wouldn’t change a thing. We can have safer roads
It's a classically American thing to say, "But can we really afford to make cars safer?"

Again, many Americans have decided that 40,000 roadway deaths a year is fine and dandy.

Another reminder that a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users.

ALL ROAD USERS.

And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all.

For sharrows, it’s actually safer to NOT have them.

Separated Bike Lanes Means Safer Streets, Study Says — Streetsblog USA
Cities that build protected lanes for cyclists end up with safer roads for people on bikes and people in cars and on foot, a new study of 12 large metropolises revealed Wednesday.

this is profoundly stupid good god. imagine thinking ‘science is where I yell at nerds’
if you disagree with it then you find where the logic and data may be misinterpreted and you design and run your own experiments in order to prove or disprove and eventually reach a consensus on reality
JD Vance: "Science as practiced in its best form is that if you disagree with it, then you ought to criticize it and you ought to argue against it."

This is why a fair number of people stay home on election day and don't vote. What's the point, they ask, when no one stands up for them
This right here.
Chris Murphy: "There will be pretty substantial damage to a Dem brand that has been rehabilitated if on the heels of an election in which the people told us to keep fighting, we immediately stop... if we surrender without having gotten anything, I worry it'll be hard to get them back up off the mat"

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.
