Apparently it's "communist" to retain a rent stabilization system which has been in place since 1941, but it's "capitalist" for Trump to insist that the federal government take a controlling stake in dozens of companies with which he engages.
Kelly Loeffler: "This is gonna be a crisis in the city of New York, to have a communist in there talking about seizing the means of production ... this is the face of Democrat Party now, and you saw that with everyone coming and bowing to him."

Beyond the complete rhetorical asymmetry at play here, what’s always struck me about GOP rhetoric about city residents is that we’re somehow “elites,” “rats,” “not blue collar or working class,” “welfare queens,” and “out of touch,” all simultaneously.
This from Tommy Tuberville may be the most racist things a U.S. senator has said in my lifetime. And the bar is high.

We spent the last four years writing about the high price of eggs under Biden. Now that they’ve reached an all-time high under Trump we’ve moved on to other topics.
