If you’re feeling a bit sad it might help a little to know that this painting exists. It’s called Dynamism of a dog on a leash, by Giacomo Galla, 1912:

Fascinating world of ancient #glass ! A small-scale but colourful mosaic glass inlay depicting an Ibis. This inlay, originating from a workshop in Roman-era Egypt, was discovered in Tawern, near Trier, Germany.
The ibis was considered a sacred animal of Thoth, the Egyptian deity...🧵1/2

Vaccines save lives.

“… the promise of nasal vaccines is that they could induce mucosal immunity along with a systemic immune response.”
Will nasal vaccines consign injections to history?
Nasal vaccines could offer protection against airborne pathogens at their point of entry into the body.

‘The Piper at the Gates of Dawn’ is not just a title of a famous album, it was originally a wonderful - if disconcerting - chapter in The Wind in the Willows.

And now Westminster Abbey are banning illustrations from beloved children’s books…

Sorry for anyone losing their job at Amazon, but am heartened by this

"We underestimated the power of existing user habits"

It doesn't matter how much money you have or how big a brand you are if customers don't want what you're selling

Amazing lesson in doing your research first
I legitimately didn't know they were competing with Steam and it's crazy to me that they burnt so much money on what sounds like something with very little (or wildly misguided) market research.

New YouGov polling. That’s a peak for the Greens. Amazing how a good communicator with vision can turn around a party’s fortunes.

RFM: 27% (+1)
LAB: 17% (-3)
CON: 17% (=)
GRN: 16% (+1)
LDM: 15% (=)

Also Labour’s lowest in a YouGov poll.

Caerphilly result, from a progressive rather than partisan point of view, is great. 1. The more people wake up to the power of turning out/voting tactically the better; 2. Given Lab still has four years in gov't with a big majority, the more it is terrorised away from regressive policies the better.

Truly bonkers new (not AI) mixing tool from Tim Exile. I've been using his algorithmic music creation tool a bunch and this looks just as neato.

Mixing is a skill and it pays to learn how to do it yourself, but it can also be useful to hear how your music sounds mixed in different ways.
Finalist is a new way to mix your music with simple controls. It can be as straight forward as picking a preset, with lots of ways to tweak it as well. Also, you own it. Infinite mixes, no subscriptions, no credits.
