Woodland Dor #Beetle (Anoplotrupes stercorosus) momentarily balanced on a piece of Pine bark. Yes, that's a small stone Stuck between my other fingers. #LittleThings

Small Coppers are one of my top 3 UK butterfly species & it's always a massive thrill to see them. Most years I don't see any, but this year, I've been fortunate to see them in all sorts of places. Culminating just recently in a pair using my garden for a week long sexy time spree! Shameless!

Not a particularly unusual species in the UK, but I've never spotted, or at least, I've never ID'd a Migrant Hawker (Aeshna mixta) before. It's been a cracking year for #dragonflies locally & my discovery of a really good new pond, continues to yield beauties like this, even as Autumn gets underway

I've been using the Merlin #bird app for a few years now. It's incredibly useful for IDing the less familiar species by their call. Every so often I add a completely new Birb to the Life List, which is very exciting, especially if it's from the garden :)

Peak #butterfly spotting moment - waited 50+ years to see a Chalkhill Blue (Lysandra
coridon) & after dropping my bike off for a service, I popped to Rodborough Common near Stroud, where I've unsuccessfully looked before. Within 50ft of the car park, I spotted about a dozen - very happy bug botherer

Although it's been a terrific year for #butterflies locally thus far, I've not seen many Blues, so it was great to see this male Common Blue (Polyommatus icarus) on May Hill a couple of days ago.

Missed posting my #30dayswild exploits due to dithering about leaving Insta, but June was pretty amazing #wildlife wise. I'll do a kind of catch-up:

First off, a Golden Ringed #Dragonfly which was a big surprise as farmland is not its typical habitat. Females like this are the UKs largest #Odonata.

Common Spotted #Orchid in my front garden! Had I 'just' stuck with #nomowmay I'd have destroyed this beautiful plant whilst also depriving the myriad #insects, #birds, #mammals & even #reptiles, of food & habitat. Gardens can be pockets of resistance & #biodiversity, even in a rural area like mine.
