#nomowmay
Since we started doing #NoMowMay in 2020, I’ve been hoping for an orchid to pop up in my lawn. But I’ll take two Pink Waxcap (Porpolomopsis calyptriformis)!
AKA Ballerina Waxcap… of course they are 🩰

What could the future look like if more isn't done to save wildflowers?🌼

Great piece from the BBC's Martha Kearney on the dwindling number of wildflowers & planting a meadow.

But there's hope...with more people joining the #NoMowMovement.🙌

We're all quite pleased with how #NoMowMay is going.

Oh dear @BBCWorldatOne doing a piece on “rewilding” At Chelsea Flower Show. Bunny Guinness banging on about weeds. Weeds for some (gardeners) are wildflowers for others. No mention of #NoMowMay anyway.

There’s so much wildlife in the garden! Why would you mow your grass and keep your garden ‘neat’ when you could sit and chill with the pollinators like a punk Disney princess? Let’s be realistic.

#30DaysWild Day 10: #NoMowMay maybe over but its time for #SayNoMow. I have partially mowed the lawn; by just cutting a wide section around the edge. As some birds like to go worming in the short stuff, whilst the rest of nature likes it left a little longer.

Rain has really brought these on

It’s been great to see the impact of #NoMowMay in Crystal Palace Park. Allowing areas to grow naturally has encouraged a wide variety of wildflowers to flourish - supporting pollinators and increasing biodiversity across the park.

To celebrate #BiodiversityWeek & #NoMowMay, we held a photo competition for #TeamScottCawley to showcase the humble dandelion, ensuring they remain in the ground as a lifeline for our #pollinators🐝

We had lots of brilliant entries - some took the opportunity to parade their canine companions… 1/2

It’s No-Mow May! Let your lawn grow wild this month — give bees, butterflies, and pollinators the boost they need. Sometimes the best action is doing nothing at all. #NoMowMay #PollinatorPower #LetItGrow

It’s #NoMowMay! Are the first few dandelions coming up in your yard? Leave them be for happy bees! They'll be waking up hungry, and need all the early flowers they can get.

Use some of the time you save to read a great books like DAPHNE’S BEES with the kids.

Hi! @DrTrevorDines, you must be thrilled by how #NoMowMay has gone this year. In our garden it was #NotmuchMowMayandalotofJunetoo and looking over fences, walls and hedges it seems that the idea has spread very widely. Well done! @Love_plants

One of my favourite facts 🌱🌿🌼

The old English for daisy is dæges ēage which means "day's eye". Simply because the daisy flower opens in the morning and closes at night.

Beautifully eloquent 💃

These are some of my daisies during #nomowmay this year 💕🙏

Common Spotted #Orchid in my front garden! Had I 'just' stuck with #nomowmay I'd have destroyed this beautiful plant whilst also depriving the myriad #insects, #birds, #mammals & even #reptiles, of food & habitat. Gardens can be pockets of resistance & #biodiversity, even in a rural area like mine.
