Labour's fear of Reform, 'the election is tomorrow' attitude means that they are completely incapable of going 'okay, but what are *actually* the consequences of refugee and asylum policy that people don't like?'
This is as bad as anything proposed by Reform.

Leaving refugees in permanent limbo and unable to build a new life in the UK would be a complete abdication of our humanitarian responsibilities

Research on this is clear: the uncertainty created by this policy will lead to people integrate less into British society. It is trading-off the reasonable policy goal of integration for the useless symbolism of immigration numbers. Bad policy to appease the far right.

The worst Prime Minister in terms of damage done to the country is David Cameron, but there’s an argument to be made Keir Starmer is the worst in terms of how ridiculously bad at the job he continues to be given that the election handed him all the tools necessary to do it well.

If Goodwin is considered too much of a racist reactionary to be an activist for the racist, reactionary Reform UK, but not too much of a racist reactionary to be intro'd as anything other than a 'presenter, former professor & author' by BBC QT, then what type of organisation does that make the BBC?

Would removing tax advantages for employee benefits help Labour voters? No

But do they help free up the resources you need so that they can be better allocated to help Labour voters? Also no

True but you also have to tax the ever loving shit out of them so that the top quintile, decile, 1% etc aren't capturing massive amounts of spending and purchasing power and distorting the whole economy.
You absolutely have to bribe your top quintile with goodies, because 1) it limits zero-sum brain disease spread 2) it creates a powerful constituency for a public services floor, & 3) the admin/cognitive load of means testing means they'll get theirs anyway, so you end up subsidising them regardless

The clever thing about going for stuff like the cycle for work scheme is it’s really noticeable, affects people with lots of media access and platforms, annoys green groups, and raises almost no revenue at the same time. Real win/win/win there.

Scandi taxes means Scandi kickbacks
The UK just has incredible attention to detail when it comes to making sure the people who pay all the taxes can’t have nice things. Child benefit? No. Free Child car? No. Cut price bike to cycle to work? No.

Functionally we are telling people they pay too much tax to get anything from the state.

Nobody is ‘economically inactive’. If you buy food/anything at all from shops, you’re paying tax on it
What on earth is this nonsense from a Blue Labour MP?

What, you want a policy targeting zero illness, no full time caring responsibilities, no skills mismatches or career breaks and you think we should heavily crack down on migration until we get there?

Just not serious policy/politics.
