Pardon, but what is 'nutting' in this context? Have a mental image of the driver headbutting the tree off the tracks but suspect this isn't quite right.

Had to be go back and double check, Oz had 'plebiscite' before the parliamentary vote, so yeah.

...I saw a beautiful bricks and mortar expression of this in Sorell; an intersection in the shopping district with a different electoral office on three of the four corners, (Liberal, Labor and an independent from memory.) A real political marketplace.

Not a minor issue in my book. But ok, looking at governance, with multi member electorates pork-barreling (of marginals) and neglect (of safe seats) are eliminated at a stroke. There are are no safe seats in Tasmania, the parties must compete for every vote in every division. 1/2

Thank you for talking about this! With one of the world's most democratic lower houses right here (Tasmania) it baffles that more people don't, esp minor parties so unfairly disadvantaged. Safe seats are an abomination! (Or, more precisely, safe electorates; in Tas the majors still rank candidates.)

I think this debate could have been better with a more nuanced case against our single-member electoral system, so I wrote one here. #ausvotes

This will make a big difference to families... as long as they're in an area with good usable public transport.

The Victorian government will make public transport free for all children from next year in a bid to relieve cost-of-living pressures.

Just reposting this which I think is the most gorgeous thing I have seen in my career - a critically endangered orange-bellied parrot feeding on a carpet of daisies after an ecological burn. This was the first time they’d had the chance to feed naturally in 15y and was wonderful to witness

The extension of the Upfield path from Sages Road to the Ring Road path work is due to start in July. Keep in mind that since the state government first funded and promised this project in 2018, the date has shifted many times and the project scope has shrank considerably so 🀞🏼
