New Zealand's transport minister knows that congestion pricing's popularity always rises:

"[Once] benefits start to flow in terms of smoother journey times, reduced traffic at peak times, smog goes down, safety improves, people go 'this is fantastic,' and immediately public opinion turns around."
Legislation allowing congestion charging passes third reading in Parliament
The Bill establishes a framework permitting local authorities to set up a congestion charging scheme, by notifying NZTA.

Deep dive into the surge in US pedestrian deaths:

"It’s not that more pedestrians are getting hit by vehicles; it’s that the ones that are getting hit are more likely to die."

"[That] seems like fairly strong evidence for the theory that the rise in large SUVs is behind the uptick in ped deaths."
Why Are So Many Pedestrians Killed by Cars in the US?
It’s unfortunately not uncommon for pedestrians to be killed by cars in the US.

Why? No one knows.

But they need to approve them. Now.

Calling all data people! Pls help! 📈📊

AustRoads released their star ratings for road design last week. But some roads that have a high star rating for design for vehicle occupants have really terrible “fatal and serious injury” stats.

I want to know how often these depart, and where.

I’m a massive advocate for 30km/hr speed limits… and today was a big day 🥹

I’ve been working for ages to make it easier for councils to implement this life saving speed limit.

And today, the Department of Transport and Planning’s Speed Zoning Policy was updated to allow councils this choice! 💚

But it’s a tricky spot to navigate by bike. We’ve proposed some changes that would make it simpler.

Now over to the state government to approve… (after another $200k is spent on detailed designs for less safe lanes 🙃)
