Melbourne is the 4th most liveable city in the world but by allocating so much public space to cars, the city can feel far from liveable.

Where is the leadership from council to close these streets to cars? When will the Future Streets Framework be implemented?

Melbourne's population is projected to exceed 9 million by 2050 and this bloke, who wants to be the leader of our state, is still complaining that there's too many bike lanes in the city. Do better.

Safer speeds save lives, but they need to be enforced by road safety cameras and police, otherwise you still see lots of this behaviour in a 30km/h speed zone.

Mayor of Yarra, Stephen Jolly, accuses resident cyclists of “white privilege” and of being “professional managerial class” all because they want a safe protected bike lane.

Those comments drew backlash on the night, with one person in the crowd calling out “I’m not white, Jolly!”

Safety is the #1 barrier in getting women cycling as @drlaurenpearson.bsky.social discusses in this interview

Here’s hoping politicians look at the facts rather than making comments saying that safe protected bike lanes are “derogatory” and “diminishing” towards women as Cr Aston did this week.

Forget safety and design guidelines, apparently using your arms' width is how you assess the safety of bike lanes. Yeah, right ok.

Thanks to everyone who showed up to the council meeting to save the Elizabeth St bike lanes.

We didn’t get the result we wanted with most councillors voting to narrow the lanes below standard to 1.5m in width.

We will keep fighting and stop DTP from approving this.

Victorian deputy premier, Ben Carroll, prints signs with his name on it, telling drivers to slow down near a school, when his government could just revise Victoria’s Speed Zoning Policy to allow for 30km/h speed limits near schools.

Great to see Transport Victoria’s new safety campaign for road workers. Now make one for people walking and cycling.
