The housing version of a Kia Soul does exist! Unfortunately, we made very small apartments illegal because we think it’s better for two people to share a 400 square foot studio than for each of them to have a 250 square foot micro unit all to themselves.
Everybody who complains that “they only build luxury housing” seems to think there’s a housing version of the Kia Soul that we just refuse to build, but that doesn’t exist. New housing is naturally expensive, the only ways to make it cheaper are government subsidy or letting it get old.
I would be very pleased if we could find a way to build brand new 30 year old houses. Unfortunately that is impossible; so the next best thing is to allow rich people to take the depreciation hit on new homes so they don’t buy existing cheaper homes and gut renovate them into new luxury housing.

This is painful, and saddening, and embarrassing. I feel like we're losing a member of the family - and for no good reason other than that some Americans wanted another season of the worst reality TV show in history.

The increase in number and frequency of chores since welcoming our 4th baby has been staggering, I don’t think my washing machine or dishwasher have stopped running for weeks and we take the trash out multiple times per day. Trying to imagine what life was like before these appliances is horrifying

Ending voting for women is a core part of the Evangelical plan for the country. They have even considered implementing “household” voting where each family only casts one vote (and we know who decides). This is the first step.

A central premise of the Trump admin is there is pervasive discrimination against hard-working white men, who are being replaced by less-qualified women and minorities

So over the last 2 weeks Trump has implemented an aggressive affirmative action program for white men

Seriously, "we don't swing at every pitch" is a much less reassuring phrase when we've watched you strike out looking on three straight pitches for the last 439 at-bats
I really can’t wrap my head around congressional Democrats’ response to the past 12 days of crises. It reeks of pathetic capitulation. Trump is asserting dictatorial powers of absolute control over the entire government and the reaction is “we don’t swing at every pitch”? An appalling abdication.
