I watched the Northern Harrier skim low across the line of reeds in front of me. Suddenly it turned and landed, looked into the reeds and around a bit, before leaving. Shortly afterwards, I spotted the Song Sparrow pop out.

A brown, owl faced, Northern Harrier dives into the reeds, it's long talons stretched out in front, while its wings are held up and back. It's focus intent on the clump of reeds in front of it. Behind it is a calm winter scene at the lake, ponds separately by lines of reeds, with distance ranches set in the valley at the foot of a snow dusted mountain. Low grey clouds fill the sky. The brown Northern Harrier perches on the top of a clump of twisted winter brown reeds, wings folded, and owl faced head up looking straight ahead. The grey lake water filled the background. A brown Northern Harrier flies low across a grey lake, wings stretch out and downward as it glides smoothly through the air. The white band at the top of the narrow tail is visible. My position on impeachment is the same as it was six months ago: Impeachment is first about driving public attention to Trump’s crimes and corruption.

Democrats should introduce impeachment articles and force votes to boost their parallel media effort.

Performative public investigations matter.

Because politics is an exercise in moving public opinion as much as counting votes in the senate.

The Jan 6 Hearings were not a criminal proceeding against Trump that would end in jail, but they focused public attention.

Typically when the US embarks on an illegal or dubiously legal regime change we use noble words about democracy, rule of law, spreading freedom, etc. to justify our actions. Trump has not done that. He offers few noble words as eulogistic covering. It's a crass power & oil grab, according to Trump.
