In this pic, he's got one end of the string caught on his left front paw, and the little plastic bit on the other end in his mouth, and he looks wild-eyed and utterly deranged. Closeup of the top of my right arm, near the shoulder. I'm sporting 2 of those round post-vax bandaids that for some reason have a foam border and then a see-thru center. There's a spot of blood from each injection site (more from the COVID jab site at the back bc I wasn't ready & kicked the pharmacist, sorry again, Andrea), so the bandaids kind of look like goggles. Or bewbs.

Penobscot Co a bellwether in Maine? It's the skinny one in in the middle, red for Q1 (no to making it harder to vote) and green for Q2 (yes to red flag gun laws).
Main question one require voter ID and change absentee ballot and Dropbox rules. The results show the voting districts in Maine. No is currently winning at 61.2%. Penobscot County is entirely red, meaning they voted no so far. Main question 2: extreme risk protection orders to restrict firearms and weapons access. Here the total count is 60.2% yes and 39.8% no. Penobscot County is shaded green, meaning they have voted majority yes for this referendum question.

An appropriately moody #Halloween #sunset. The kind of desultory rain where you can almost step between the drops. A pervasive stillness broken by a scurrying in the dead leaves.

Scrambled to pull together a dinner tonight & ended up with this sort of open-face sloppy joe meets pizza thing. Not bad. Recipe in #AltText. #FoodSky

BFF is making little satisfied noises every time they take a bite. 1 lb ground turkey 28oz can diced tomato Water 1 med onion diced small 1 green pepper diced small A bunch of diced garlic (we get minced in a jar, no shame in that game) Oregano, chili powder, pepper, salt, red pepper flakes -Brown ground meat in a pan, drain off grease -Sauté veggies briefly, until garlic gets aromatic -To pan w/veggies add diced tomato, spices, ground turkey, 1/4ish cup water & simmer until it looks right -If it tastes bitter toss in a bit of granulated sugar -Toast bread, skim with butter, lay down cheese layer, dollop of meat sauce, lay down more cheese -Bake at 425 until it looks right, broil the last 2 min if you're fancy

A dear friend is helping clear out a relative's home after an unexpected death. They came across this monthly magazine mailer from 1935. (1/?)
A yellowed copy of what was apparently a newsprint mailer to Augusta Maine area residents. It's titled Good Stories, and then below says Augusta Maine August 1935. The cover image is done in woodcut style and shows a cowboy in a checked shirt, thumb hooked in belt and hat in other hand, looking manfully off into the distance on our right, with his horse behind him, and cacti in the back and foreground. The headline of what is apparently the lead story says Illustrating the DESERT SAMARITAN. But wait til you see the ads in the back...

Tuxedo man Mr. Moo is ensconced in the lower level of the cat tree, meatloafing. He's looking directly at us, but the sisal-wrapped vertical post obscures exactly half of his face at our right. A cartoon-like curlicue of sisal sticks out to the left of the post in just such a position that it makes it appear he's smiling mischievously.
