Bill’s exactly right. 99.9% of climate denial is solution aversion. They don’t want to fix it, but they know that saying “it’s real and serious but I don’t want to fix it” isn’t a great message. So they go with the smoke screen of science denial instead.

Interesting. I was told that both boats that had been struck down were verified to be carrying narcotics and had connections to criminal groups, but we couldn’t see any of the totally real evidence. Surely fishing would be perfectly safe under such conditions?

yeah today it's a reactionary thing mostly, but for a long fuckin' time until *very* recently there was way too much tolerance for this shit in left and liberal spaces. from "oh it's not harming anyone" to "different ways of knowing". RFK jr fucking came from that milieu.

they are wrong in the details but they are correct in that affordability is a problem, and has been for a while. sure, we can't touch grocery margins but we can go after housing, healthcare, child care and transportation which are the actual largest line items in people's budget.

groceries and gas are expenses that people have to deal with multiple times a week and are very easy to track on a week-to-week basis so any increases, even if they're a small proportion of their income, are very noticeable. these concerns are nullified if affordability generally is tackled.

I agree that people don't know exactly what they want and are not well versed in policy, but I also think it's fair to ask what you would do instead of meeting them where they're at currently? it seems flattening to say that low info people only care about groceries. they care about affordability.

To start, you need to know what TNO is. It stands for The New Order. It's one of the most popular HOI4 mods that centers on a nazi victory scenario. its also rather old at this point, with I believe it's 10 years passing recently.

as someone who grew up in this intellectual milieu, I can say with 100% certainty that just like the vast army of illegal immigrant gang members that are just waiting to be rounded up they truly believe that there is a massive cohort of stoners just waiting to be turned into plumbers or farmers.
The thing about this is that it won't happen and they either know that and are as usual just saying things, or they don't, but are also just saying things because they sound good to them.
