This is giving unmistakable "argument in the car on the way home" vibes and Sam is going to lose so, so badly.
Does anyone wanna see a really good Getty image of Rita Moreno and Sam The Eagle having dinner in 1979?

Being a hater must have been so easy circa 1975. You could just call someone a poseur and refuse to explain what you mean by that
The E Street Shuffle newsletter/website is shutting down at the end of the year and I will miss its fun finds, like this 1975 pan of a Montreal concert, in which the critic tries very hard to convince himself that the sold-out crowd, having a great time, were all suffering from some mass delusion.

I have once again enjoyed an extra hour of sleep by ignoring my dad’s precedent of getting to the airport super early. Take that, Dad.

no idea if this will be a good movie or not, I’m just ecstatic to see a poster like this for an upcoming movie — peak of the artform, IMO

I think I was a little too young to fully appreciate Bush’s numbskull gaffes when they were happening. Looking at this now has me like “Oh my God, he has the mind of a child.”

Rob Reiner always seemed like your dad's best friend and not a neurotic genius like Spielberg or whomever. Almost strange that cultural touchstone after cultural touchstone came outta that guy.

When I think of his movies, I think of many other voices: Nora Ephron, Stephen King, Aaron Sorkin, Christopher Guest, Kathy Bates, William Goldman. To me that speaks of generosity, of a spirit of collaboration, of understanding that filmmaking is not a one-man operation. I wish we had more like him.

(pounds gavel) no more ommitting Spinal Tap from the “incredible run” discussion just because The Sure Thing is not a genre-defining banger. This is not a 1941 situation here. It’s fine.

I have not rewatched The Princess Bride since becoming Columbo-pilled and obsessed with Peter Falk. Learned he's the grandpa after the fact (it's been a while)

Taking a break from the sickening tragedy to focus on the beauty for a moment. Rob Reiner achieved something so rare and coveted that artists and entertainers dream of and rarely achieve: cultural permanence. How many times have you made a reference to something going to 11? Shouted "Inconceivable"?

this might be the most overt example of political polarisation above all else. the guy's stated core identities are "catholic" and "american".
imagine being told 20 years ago that a catholic vice president of the united states would basically hate the first ever american pope's guts.
